I have AdAc. Heads up cash game i open 3BB. BB calls
As7d9s flop
I bet 60% pot He call
Tc turn he check I 2nd barrel 66% pot i think its okay he min raise so i call pretty easy even iam scared
River Kc he bet 55% pot i call hand he 68 for the straight. should I fold at a moment or its just setup ?
I’d probably go for the set-up
Turn i have the odds against only the nuts (straight). Indeed i have to call 750 to win 3990 so i only need 18% equity and i have 22,73% so ok.
River i have to call 2100 to win 8190, so i need 26% equity. If he have TT and his turn straight i cant call i have only 9% equity. If he has 77 and 99 i have 22% equity. If he play two pairs like this its a call, but idk if he barrel river with two pairs. Dont count the bluff because seems like a CS fish who never raise bluff, but i think i am forced to call because in the case he dont play two pairs like this but he has one single offsuit bluff i have to call.
So i think thats just a setup but not sure at 100% need your opinion
If you’re so unsure of your hand and know the player to be a solid player… then fold and fight another day… its poker !
setup, yup
turn is interesting spot tho
but I think you are fine to keep betting
problem is the minraise is like never a bluff
but even then as you say you are getting direct odds to call, and still beat some thick value
so it’s fine
river if he jams it’s different but for 1/2 pot you can’t fold still beating 77 and 99, right?
idk it sucks… the turn action is so revealing bc villain is surely very unbalanced
I guess a hand like A9 or 77 can puke-fold on the river sometimes like an absolute boss? Top set I think you just have to call down and shake your fist at the skies when you see the straight.
You lost the minimum with a hand that should be looking to play for stacks. I’d normally chalk that up as big win, but I’m not sure it is in this case. There’s a lot of hands that might min raise the turn:
- Combo draws: Js2s-Js6s
- Pair + draws: JT, J9, J7, T8, 98, 78
- Two pair: T9, T7, 97
That’s a lot of combos, none of which are folding to a turn 3-bet, but most of which aren’t putting in more money on the river unless they improve.
If there’s a mistake in this hand, it’s in not at least considering 3-betting the turn. I think in this case it’s probably a little thin, because I don’t think they’re likely to have any sets, but if the board was lower it would be a mistake not to get more money in on the turn.
I considered the 3 bet, but for like 3 seconds, because I told myself that if it was a nit he would not have raised with pair + draw nor with two pairs and that I was only isolating myself against the nuts , even if it’s probably stupid in real lol.
