I think you can endorse a player who you played against within a certain previous time period. So, this may be the reason(s) for the above comment.
When in doubt I just ask Sarah, she has a lot of answers.
"… First, you may only endorse a player you’ve played with at a table. You can’t simply visit all your friends’ profiles and award them from there. You have to have played a hand at a table with the player to be able to endorse them.
Second, you’re limited by how often you can endorse within a 24 hour period. You may only endorse 20 players within that period, and you cannot endorse the same person more than once in those 24 hours."
"… The Endorsements feature places the power in our community’s hands. You encourage the behavior you want to see, while Code of Conduct violations result in a loss of perks and recognition.
if you would read what I said, what’s stopping you and your friends getting on a table and endorse each other everyday for no reason other than to bolster up their rankings
While trying to figure that out when joining this site, I read that other players endorse you. That is the only thing i learned about it, and if the information has changed, I am not aware of it. Good luck on the tables!
I think it was implemented as a nice gesture by some very nice people who always have good intentions. This has always been a very friendly site with most of the players falling into that category, (imo) which is one reason I’ve stuck around this long. You seem to be a pessimist about others’ intentions. I think most are here to relax and have a good time enjoying one of their favorite pastimes.
BTW, there is nothing wrong with being competitive at the poker table.
I always use my twenty daily endorsements for just that reason, to get free chips. It’s an easy way to make 500 chips a day. I don’t see it as being a cheat or playing the system as it’d be hard to make a rule for instance where you can only endorse someone if they actually deserve it.
I don’t endorse till the break at minimum, and sometimes not until Final Table. I only endorse those that DESERVE it. How do I know a player is a Pro endorsement worthy. 1. They play(ed) well, and I truly know great play when I see it, as I know how to play well myself and am a Solid, between great amateur to semi shark, to semi pro, winning, profitable, positional, semi GTO, semi Exploitative, semi tight to semi moderate, selective semi aggressive, semi balanced player myself. 2. They have a extremely high ranking(1 to about 7000), and unlikely to have bought chips(most chip buyers are not pros, do not play like pros). 3. Have a Bigger stack. 4. Have all the 3 above things all combined together. Its not enough if high ranked alone, or Bigger stack alone. or played well alone(they could play badly most to almost all tournaments and they could be temporarily playing well.)
And I have to survive long enough till break or final table in order to endorse, if they deserve an endorsement. That, this means that people don’t get endorsements as often, and don’t get the pro endorsement unless they are really a pro, and deserve the pro endorsement.
If you think about it both the “Poker Pro” and “Good Sport” Endorsements could be given as an insult if one has a pessimistic outlook. I just prefer to think most have good intentions as intended when giving out their Endorsements.
You played like a Donkey so you must be a “Poker Pro” (ha-ha!!).
