Tournament Victories and Bad Beat Defeats

I still believe what I believe

Because I start the hand with 6bb, Iā€™m on the BB with 2 weak limpers and I have AQo. That is an absolute auto-shove 100% frequency.

Villain made a good call but only because he had a decent hand and had me oustacked by a jillion. But he only had 3 realistic outs (yes he could have flushed but the equity there is miniscule). He needed a 6 to beat me (and no Q) and he got TWO 6s. Again, good call, but if that aint a suckout nothing is.

Exactly, my point. The two (V)'s had you covered Pre-flop. I see you mention you were on the final table. I didnā€™t see a need for the all-in.

If you want to win, you have to get aggressive. If you never get aggressive when covered, you will never win. There is no point to being at the table. ; ) If you question the sizing, with only 6bb, there is only one aggressive sizing. If I 2x this and get called, the pot is too big for my stack to play. Iā€™ll be all-in at some point, iI might as well force Villains to show down pre. Checking (or limping) here is losing poker. ; )

9 times out of 10 I beat Villain here and I double up. If I pass that up, Iā€™m a great big nit.

Major Suckout

Iā€™ve been playing the Step to 1 Million lately.and doing quite well starting all the way from Step 1 and collecting 1M tix. Hereā€™s a hand from Step 4 this morning that went naaasty.

These Step tournaments can be quite nitty, especially the later steps. 2x will get lots of folds so it is difficult to open. I had KJo and opened 2.5 to get a bigger pot going and wow, I got called. Now I have to hit this since this Villain usually folds 2x, and smack it hard I do with top 2-pair! Oh, Iā€™m rubbing my hands in anticipation of the big pot.

I have position so Iā€™m thinking ā€˜bet into me, bet into me,ā€™ and yess!! he bets LARGE! I flat, knowing that he will barrel. He does, not quite putting me all-in (which means that heā€™s not paying full attention to my stack. I shove the rest. He calls with pocket 10s. I have him crushed. Iā€™m stoked to take all his chips!

Q on the river gives him a straight. VOMIT!! He had 6 outs. I felt and lose everything built up from the first three steps.

Bottom Set
Dumb fish (this is a 1M tourney, check out his bankroll) limps QQ and hits top set. His play confirms his bankroll. Love to play him again.

Why is he playing a 1M tourney? Probably the same reason you were, you both won a 1M ticket in Steps to a Million promo. The 1M tourneys have been very watered down because of that promotion. Not like it is hard to win a ticket 3 person SNG and second gets a free roll until they win. Come on an 8 player table and 6 just limped in (at least two with Pocket pairs).

As for the hand, with 5 limpers in front and in the big blind, yes he should have raised but then again you should have too with 3 limpers in front of you. Pocket pairs donā€™t play well in large multiway pots. But he was in a spot to hide the strength of his hand by taking his option. Once the trips hit, it is a no brainer to check and trap which he did. It is really bad luck to have set over set and the hand played itself after the flop. If he checked pre flop or raised preflop you were just as dead after the flop.

I donā€™t know about this comment. It seemed to work or maybe Iā€™m mistaken who was the fish in this hand.

If he raised pre I would have folded.

Only a fish limps QQ deep, especially multi-way.

And this is according to some book which youā€™ve previously read?

Iā€™ve heard somewhere some time ago that the beauty of poker, is everyone thinks they can play,

Btw, I akso find it difficult to fold a set on the flop.

All right, since youā€™ve obviously outed me as a fraud, why donā€™t you play me heads up? Best of 7, 50k buy-in.

LOL!!

Iā€™d probably limp in as well. knowing what always happens to me when I have pocket queens

Then your criticism means nothing.

Okay, this kinda stuff has been happening for 2 days now and itā€™s just sick.
