Spliting the pot

Once in a while I get to a tournament final table and the last two, three or four players’ stacks are just about even. There is lot of shoving chips back and forth with no one getting clear edge in stack size. I’ve proposed to split the pot after five minutes or more.
Add up the reaming prize values and split it evenly between the remaining players.
Most of the responses I got were in favor of it. But currently no way to do so even if all players agree to it do so.
Could there be a button added to a tournament final table alerting a moderator that when four less remaining players would have to agree to split the pot. The moderator would take a poll of the players to make sure everybody agrees to the consensus to spit the pot.

Hi Webfoot
I think this is a good idea. You wouldn’t even need moderator involvement. If everyone clicks the button or the checkbox then that’s all you need to split the remaining prize pool.

Great idea-I know at cash games (online and casino) ppl. can split the money in tournaments and when there is like 3-5 players and blinds very high it is more luck and i usually just agree to split the money…Like on here yesterday, me and another guy were the only 2 left out of 156 ppl. n the blinds were so big it was like all in every hand ( i lost lol ) and we would have been happy to split the winnings…good idea:)

That in theory could be a idea at the highest stake levels. The reason why it’s less of a good idea at the lower stake levels, is that Replay, is free, play chips, and easily replaced at the lower levels, so no need to split prize pools 3,4 ways, etc, even if playing like it’s real money.

Another reason, is that Replay at the higher levels can be good practice for real money play. In Real Money play online, the prize pool is usually not split. And offline at the lower stake levels, prize pools a rarely split. Prize pools are usually only split at the higher, semi life changing levels of poker play, and sometimes at the lower levels if the players arent good and its a friendly game.

Another reason to not split the prize pools, and not ask, propose a split, is that asking, proposing a split can make you look like your weak, and that because of that, don’t want to play it out, and because of that, if a split doesn’t happen, you can be targeted, because they think your weak. Also if a split doesn’t happen, and you have to play it out, your going to be at a disadvantage, because your splitting a lot, and rarely playing it out. It’s important to play it out, and not split, so you can get good at playing it out, and have a edge, advantage over others that not good at playing it out, because they are splitting. Splitting is Easy. Playing it out isnt as easy, and that’s why need to practice playing it out, while no practice splitting is needed, as thats how easy it is.

When I play real money tournaments, offline at casinos, I rarely ask to split, and rarely agree to a split, and if someone ask for a split, and if those that ask are very good, then I’ll take sometime to pretend to mull it over, think about it before pretending to grudgingly consent to the split, so that I don’t look weak. If I were to play at life changing money levels at a casino, then I would agree to a 3,4,5 way split, if asked.

Because of these reasons, its probably less of a good idea to split prize pools 3,4 ways, an or for Replay to provide that option, and if Replay does provide that option, that option should probably only be available at the highest levels like 500k, 1 mil, 5 mil, etc, buy in tournaments with the biggest prize pools.

My last word on this:)…You play a lot of poker (casino and or online or re-play) you become friends with most of the players and MOST ppl. respect each other and no need to look STRONG and be the only person to say " no splitting " as this person usually is the one ppl. do not respect:)…

This is not a fight; it does not make you look weak----after playing for a long-time n the blinds so high that it is more luck MOST ppl. are friendly and agree to split-----ANYONE that is a good player likes to be friendly and do this:)

Your WRONG----------the smallest 2 the biggest are split online and casino when the players decide they want it—all the time—i played them and split them both places n not big tournaments----it is called " mutual agreement among remaining players"

Online small or big tournaments are split ALL the time-same goes with casinos with SMALL and big tournaments--------i played them all and split small tournaments online and casinos MANY times- i am old n i do mean a long time:).
