If these numbers are correct and not doubting you my friend, I think we need some transparency from the site and clean up the actual members numbers if needed. Reminds me of some of the States in USA, have cleaned up their voter roll’s
Well dang, there’s millions of older people out there with loads of money!
They did that not so long ago. Before the cleanup there were 1 3/4 million players.

1. Recs & chip buyers make the site more fun!
Poker is always more fun with recreational players willing to gamble! Without these players the competition would be MUCH, MUCH tougher and boring IMO!
2. RP needs chip sales to run a Business
RP is NOT a charity! Its a business looking to make money from selling FREE worthless chips.
Be less imaginative and look at how many players are sitting at tables with large chunks of their Bankroll on the line, and playing recklessly AKA gambling! Most chip buyers are not looking to get started! They are looking to gamble and have fun! I would guess less than 5% of chips buyers only buy chips a few times, and most are regularly buying chips at least monthly.
Poker works! That’s the Business Model, same as in poker for real cash both live and online. Recreational players love to gamble and battle against the best players. I do agree, the Business Model surely could be better, and that RP is very narrow-minded putting all their eggs in one basket and trying to selling ONLY FREE worthless chips to everyone. There is a lot of good players on the site that wont get any value buying FREE worthless chips when they already have millions or billions!
I don’t like the fact “we” the players that don’t/wont buy chips talk down on chip buyers. Players that buy chips are the recreational and fun players that keep the RP site operational & the poker economy and ecosystem going.
Hi @Craig_Anthony ,
I should know this but don’t my friend. Where should we be able to see the membership total on the site? Sadly if correct, only 10% of members play the games. I just wonder how the other 90% provides any good to the site & us to grow the Great Community, we have.
Agree from the age group mentioned, I’ve been there and most folk’s don’t have time as they work hard to be able to retire.
As a retiree myself, I don’t consider the site as a video game. I do consider the site as a great free online poker game, with the focus of bringing us all together as one community of people, learning & loving each other.
Maybe you have an extra page to view? Like when you are a member of a League club on RP?
I just wonder how the other 90% provides any good to the site
Could be just to clean up valid members or perhaps we should thank them for the silent support, of this Great poker site
HMMMM, 5-200,000,000 chip packages for $499…99 each =$2,499.95 for 1 billion chips, i think:) that is cheaper then 10k i think lol.
Where do you see a chip pkg. like that. All I see is 3.5 mil. for 99., 50% off for Father’s day.
So, normal pricing would get you 17.5 mil for $500.
I am not sure that I would call it gambling playing in a game where you can only lose and never win.
It is like buying tokens for a slot machine that never pays out!
I would regard myself as a recreational player, but I can’t quite see the point of buying chips when you can get them free, 2500 each day, and you can also get more chips if you go bankrupt.
Anyway I am very happy that some people want to buy chips so that the rest of us can play for free. Socialism in action!
The point is to support a site that in my opinion is in its own league as far as security, moderation and congeniality goes. I have never bought chips, although I did give a tip wihen they had a tip jar and I fully appreciate the ones who support the site with a premium membership - some of the best and most likable players are they. And then some people in this day and age are quite used to paying for on line entertainment. As far as that goes I can’t think of a better site than replay to do that.
I use “recreational player” illustratively for a losing player in general on a FREE poker site. Everyone on RP is playing for fun & not making a living - so yes, everyone is “recreational” compared to real cash poker! A player that is break even or losing on RP long term. Either buying chips & regularly losing them, or stuck at low stakes constantly losing everything regularly bc they have no understanding of BRM.
Are you talking about chess? A game with almost no element of luck and gambling?
Bad players can easily win on RP in games for hours playing badly and getting lucky! Variance and luck is massive short term, for a few hours or even a week etc! This is gambling and entertainment!
Not at all! If I play chess against any decent ranked player even at 1-100 odds pay-out I’m a massive loser! Unless my opponent suffers a heart attack, stroke or some random act of debilitation I have ZERO chance to win! In poker there is always a chance to win or lose AKA gambling!
Spending 10K on FREE worthless chips is inconceivable and insanity for almost everyone playing on RP. Spending a few hundred dollars every month or so is a very cheap hobby for a lot of players on RP. Compared to hitting the Casino - in the comfort of your own home - its a very cheap gambling hobby!
this is the typical packages i see. If there is bonus sales then OFC that changes it slightly. All pretty tight:
It seems players maybe get different offers for different regions or something?
65.000 Chips for 99 cents or,
65.000 Chips for $2.50.
Anybody else sees the irony there? Those packages don’t really make sense either, they don’t increase cumulatively according to their prices, if 1 Dollar can get you 65.000 chips and 5 Dollars gets 140.000 chips, you can buy four .99 Cent packages, and for a Dollar less get nearly double the amount of the 5 Dollar package.
Same with the 10 Dollar package, 325.000 Chips OR 650.000 Chips if you buy ten of the 99 Cent packages. Somebody didn’t have their morning coffee when they came up with that formula lol.
The 65k chips for $0.99 is for your first purchase thereafter it’s $2.50 for 65k chips.
Not normal prices, we are looking at ALL the times they have chip sales-keep your eyes open for them lol.
I have to be honest, when i first started ( 16 months ago ) i did buy the 65,000 chips for .99 but since they keep putting up ALL kinds of sales on EVERY day occasional things BUT $1 was my limit:).
The thing is that once you make your first purchase, then they have your debit card or credit card on record. No? So having made the first purchase you are much more likely to make further purchases. Probably you purchase while angry at just having lost your entire stack!
I have spent cash on many other poker platforms. I’ve just never felt the need or desire to spend money or RP when the only thing on offer is free worthless chips.
I think the “first purchase special” is decent especially if you buy it in your first month playing on RP. After you start playing for a few weeks and months, winning, the value of buying chips just slow or quickly diminishes depending on how much your able to play.
Yea obviously it looks stupid for RP to make these offers, particularly two different priced packages for the same amount of chips.
As @smooth99 explained top GREEN chip package is a “first purchase special” bc I’ve never bought chips. If I was to buy chips then the GREEN package would never appear on my bank page again - presumably.
Personally if I was RP making these offers then I would I would make EVERY package a GREEN “first purchase special” and make every amount double except 65K for $0.99. Something like:
65
140 to 280
325 to 650
1 250 000 to 2 500 000
3 500 000 to 7 000 000
