So what does your expertise say to do ?
I think it is admirable that RP does not inflict advertising on players and provides a good clean game, but I donât really know how they can make enough money to run the site by asking people to buy worthless chips.
What kind of businesses would advertise on a play money poker site? Presumably gambling businesses that want your money.
There is a kind of paradox, because anybody who is a reasonably decent player on RP has never needed to buy any chips, and most of the recently decent players play every day and have done so four months and years, but make no money for the site. On the other hand the people who buy chips mostly lose them quickly so they need to be replaced with new purchasers.
My guess is that eventually RP will be sold lock, stock, and barrel to one of the big internet operators and commercialized in some way, which will be a great shame. I have been on the site for almost five years now and it has provided countless hours of free, harmless diversion and sometimes excitement.
Although I have accumulated half a billion chips or more, RP has also taught me that I will never be good enough to play profitably on a real money site. No matter how good you think you are, you will always run into someone better who studies, uses solvers, learns game theory, and is more determined to improve their game, and I donât want to use real money for this when I have better things to spend it on.
being a PKR.COM transplant i find this site rather boring but decent in comparison to other free play sites.
Ienjoyed the other site more because it was entertaining and escape from the seriousness of everyday life and that was what i enjoyed about it.
Players i encounter at the tables (no matter ) what the stakes very seldom talk to each other (shrugs ) lol PKR.COM was a real money site and play chip site but they didnât sell chips. When the U.S. and other countries could no longer play real money they didnât survive long.
BUT IT WAS A BLAST WHILE IT LASTED!
Was sagt ihr Fachwissen also zu tun???
Ich verstehe die Frage nicht.
Sorry.
Thatâs my guess. Probably a video game for sale like the dozens out there now with the WSOP video game being the most popular.
When I first started, the site was a lot friendlier at the tables. I think the chat box still suggests chatting while playing but i agree it has changed. Maybe the speed between hands has something to do with it (see the thread about not seeing final hands).
I used to chat when I play it on my desktop, but then I switched over to playing on my phone. On the phone there is no facility for chat. Most likely a lot of people are now playing on the phone, so they cannot chat.
I think thatâs exactly why except in the League games ( every one chats ). Must all be on a laptop, desktop or grapevine told me I can play the same on an iPad which is great with chatting.
Yes, there might well be a market for people who are willing to pay a few dollars a month for the ability to play poker against other people all over the world without risking losing any real money or breaking any laws. Would people not be willing to pay the same as they pay for a VPN?
Certainly the game seems quite addictive to me as I have been playing almost daily for around 5 years. The game is particularly good for retired people, as it is an excellent way to exercise your brain for a couple of hours per day and I think that many people who play on RP fall into that category.
Are numbers falling off? Yesterday I noticed that when I registered for the tournament which I play every dayâWarp Speed, which is at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time and costs 1 million chips to enterâwas cancelled because only three people had signed up at starting time. Usually this daily tournament has about 35 players.
I then switched over to another cheap entry tournament that starts at the same time. I noticed that there were only 36 entrants when my recollection is that when I regularly played this tournament as a beginner on RP there were more than 100 entrants.
Absolutely! As an older generation of poker players leave ( due to age or death) there are not enough young players to take their place. Young people are working and building a life and donât sit for hours playing poker while life passes them by.
Replay is trying to retain their customer base that is shrinking by trying to come up with gimmicks. Replay has social media but no really marketing strategy to grab young players.
The staff is primarily video game tech gurus and not focused on a long term marketing strategy to bring in revenue.
I see only about 3000 active players with a membership over over 300 thousand.
I enjoy the site but if I were 18 - 50 years old I wouldnât even consider Replay to sharpen my brain.
Itâs an online video game which isnât too bad for those retirees looking for something to pass the time.
And only time will tell.
I agree
Ich auch.
On a side note, I have noticed that recently they have started to bombard us with chip sale pop-ups again, when I open the site for the first time in the day receiving my daily bonus. Usually have to close one or two before closing the Daily Bonus window.
desperate
pretty soon âA GOING OUT OF BUSINESS SALElâ ?
I do wonder how many bought that almost 10k chip buy? if any did lol
I donât know but I can guarantee that ten thousand people did NOT buy it lol.
Some people did. My ranking this week went from 78 to 90 and I have over 1.2 Billion chips.
They could have been very charitable and bought me a case of beers, but instead they decided to be selfish and buy some play chips⊠Life just isnât fair lol.

I have a suggestion:
Value the name of the 50 highlights of the month. The purchase of chips is not merit, but recognition will bring more financial return and more players to the site, in addition to promoting who really deserves it.
