Is playing multiple tables being inconsiderate?

If someone is playing 7-9 tables at once, do you consider the player doing it being inconsiderate towards the other players who are waiting to play?

Do you think playing 7-9 tables is breaking an unwritten poker etiquette rule?

Would like to know what the people here think about this.

My old computer would start smoking and explode if I played 7-9 tables at once.

The time allotted is reasonably quick for good reason.

Not only for playing multiple tables but also for the ones trying to stay awake.

I think etiquette doesn’t apply in those instances.

I fell asleep then awoke to the buzzer many times.

I’ve sat out for a few hands afterwards then tried again with more coffee.

The most tables lately were only two at a time.

All players need patience to win.

It just goes with the territory.

If the play slows down to a crawl, consider using a split screen and start writing a book!

Wash the dishes or clean out the refrigerator.

Remember the secret to patience is finding something else to do while waiting.

Don’t let someone else, who you have no control over, decide for you whether or not

you’re going to have a good day!

I appreciate the reply!

and I really liked what you said at the end, that is a good mentality to have in poker and in life in general.

Hi Punisher,

I find playing against someone playing multiple tables to be mildly annoying because of the of the waiting.

I do not mind it when a player sometimes takes some time think about his decision. But running out the clock most hands because you are deciding another hand (or hands) on another table (or tables) is inconsiderate, not to folks waiting to play (there is always a seat opening on some table), but to the others you are currently playing against. The time clock is there to allow you time to decide your action in that game not another.

That being said, playing multiple tables is not against any rules or etiquette written or not, and has been around as long as online poker.

I have never come across anyone playing more than three tables at once. Is it even possible to play that many games at once? Probably not well I think.

One thing I do sometimes when someone is constantly running the clock is to open their profile and check. If they are playing multiple tables I will open that other game and keep an eye on it, if an opportunity arises in the right situation I will put pressure on them in my game while they are trying to make a big decision in another game.

I heartily agree with Excaliburns on this.

So that is what I think and I say it completely aware that opinions are like butts,… everyone has one,… and they all stink! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Peace!

It may be annoying but as long as it doesn’t run out the clock repeatedly it is within the rules.Everyone has the same time clock. What i find more annoying is when seated at a tourny table, most players run out the clock at the beginning of play and proceed to sitout after lol

Hello Das32343

I agreed that it can be annoying when players run down their clock when they have an easy decision on the table they neglected. I personally don’t mind it if it happens here and there. Unless they are purposely doing it, but how can we know for sure they are doing it on purpose? I don’t think there is a way to know. As I said I don’t mind it too much for the reason being that some players may be more “Methodical” in their decisions making and it might take some more time for them than others.

This is what I was trying to start a conversation about hahah, If the player playing multiple table is being inconsiderate towards the other players waiting in the waitlist because they are taking multiple spots that could go for one of the waitlist players.

I can see how my wording in my post can also indicate about players playing multiple tables being inconsiderate towards the players in the table who are waiting for them to make a decision when that player is focusing on another table and neglecting theirs.
That can also be another topic for a friendly debate.

some people play up to 20 tables but they have HUDS which can make their decision somewhat much easier. They do lose some edge in their games but they make it up in volume.

Playing up to 20 tables?? I thought you were just exaggerating in your first post noting 7 - 9 tables at the same time.

Sounds like a lot of clicking noise which would drive me crazy. I used to play up to 3 at one time but I quickly couldn’t handle the noise.

Oh man it gets even crazier than 20 tables, there’s an old legend of someone playing 120 tables at once lol
Imagine all that clicking noise for that hahah
I wonder know how people can manage 8+ tables and not sit out, that must be brutal having to check all those tables you been sitting out. They might have TVs as monitors to fit all those tables…

I a very new to Replay Poker and I have to say I LOVE everything about the site and company and spirit behind good sportsmanship and community.

I personally don’t know if I could play more than one table at a time; and maybe you win more chips that way, but it’s not as realistic as face to face in person real poker. I also think if you’re playing multiple tables, you’d have a harder time reading betting tendencies of the players at each table.

But to each his or her own. I feel like if I need something extra to pass time while playing the single game, I can just watch TV, etc in the background, only play hands during commercials, etc.

Again I love this site and look forward to becoming part of the RP community.

Personally I have trouble playing two tables so it is difficult for me to grasp playing so many. If folks who do that here are maybe training themselves to do it on cash sites and can make money playing so many tables I can understand that. Or maybe as some kind of personal challenge. I just don’t see how that can be enjoyable. But,… as Guy0904 said… to each their own. As for me, I am here for recreation and relaxation.

I also do not usually go on waiting lists for games but take the first available open seat at any table (or sit at an empty table) in my desired buy in range, so for me someone taking up seats is no bother. There are so many options here I just don’t get needing to play on any one particular table. I will concede that at higher levels there are not so many tables playing at any one time and so a multi tabler might be seen as inconsiderate but I am not aware of any kind of etiquette regarding multi tabling.
Cheers!

During the the Summer Hustle games I played at 4 tables 10 hours long ;-)/

btw on replay more than 6 tables in my eyes impossible! because the time is too short for that!

Playing one table for years is like being in the right lane of life, on cruise control,

under the speed limit.

Wonder what playing 24 tables is like?

I often play two tables at a time and sometimes 3, they have to be 20 second games not lightning games, most the time no one at the table knows I am doing it, my friends do because you can click on my name and see every table I am on. It’s easier to do in Omaha Hi/Lo than Holdem.
When I am really trying to win and not just playing to play, hand selection permits multiple games, I am just clicking the fold button before it’s my turn as I scan the hands for playability.
I may be faster on two tables than most are on one. This is not for everyone, many times I am in multiple ring games playing two other players that are doing the same thing and are on both my tables.
The only time it becomes an issue is when all the table sync and all need a decision at the same time, then I think some loss in the decision-making process occurs.
For that reason, I try to stick with no more than two games at a time as a courtesy for the other players that are stuck and trying to recover their chips, they are usually the ones with the most complaints about slow players. I am nice but there was a time if someone put zzzzzzzzzz in the chat, I would say “are you not losing fast enough” but that’s not me anymore, I prefer to kill them with kindness.

i have played two thats my limit

What about if someone is running out the clock nearly every hand and doing it intentionally? This is in sng play, 6 man tables. I know it’s intentional bc i’ve called him out on it many times and he just says quit complaining, it’s within the rules. That guy drives me bananas - only player on here i’ve ever really had an issue with

I’m not so sure this is clearly intentionally malicious, but I’ve witnessed shameless clock abuse behaviour which can be very iritating. Running out the clock on consecutive hands should just sit you out, maybe even with a penalty.

From the community playbook (https://www.replaypoker.com/help/playbook):

Gamesmanship

  • Time Clock - Players are entitled to use the clock provided to them on Replay Poker. Please do not react rudely if others are considering their strategy, including spamming “zzz” in chat. However, staff may investigate if players are consistently and intentionally trying to disrupt the flow of play.

If you truly believe this player is abusing the clock, please report them (with hand numbers if possible) by clicking on the player and then using the report player icon in the chatbox. Hope this helps.
