I won the 4 steps to a million!
If you don’t know, it’s a ladder of small SnGs that pay out tickets to the next step. I won step 1 a few times, step 2 twice but couldn’t get any further. Step 3 is a 4-seat table, top 2 advance.
I was behind when I decided to play 34o from the button and this happened.
Not long after that I got the money in and won my ticket to step 4.
That 4th step was really really close all the way, very intense. Almost all the pots were small. The stacks never got too far apart but I had the small lead most of the way. It’s a 3-seat table, so I widened up and opened carefully. At first I had a run of great cards like 4 or 5 hands in a row and opened too big (3xish) and no one would call, so I started sizing down. I checked any BB that limped to me, and did a lot of bluffing on checkbacked boards (for small pots of course) when I whiffed or had a weak made. I varied up a bit, did some folding here and there just to keep everyone honest.
My stack was around 4k and the other two were a little over 2k and one of them felted the other. This left us heads up around even (he was slightly ahead) and I just started shoving almost all of my mediocre stuff and just call/checking or 2xing my prime stuff. I was probably opening 60-70% of all hands. If we saw a flop I jammed it. He folded folded folded. If he tried to open 2x on me I folded because he probably had something good.
Then this happened.
Now I have a ticket to a million dollar tourney!
It was a very friendly table. We greeted each other at the beginning but didn’t talk much, I guess the vibe was so intense.
