Barrel
This hand was from some time last week. I saved the link but don’t really recall the hand. Watching it back I’m not sure if I played this all that well or not. Maybe I could have given up on the turn. I guess I was pot committed by the end. 50k buy-in so pretty big stakes for me.
The turn is the only street where I don’t think you should have done something different, but I also don’t think you blundered anywhere, just that you could have taken more logical lines.
What are you trying to accomplish on the flop? I can’t see a scenario where leading here really makes sense. As it turned out though, it does get you to the turn with a very playable SPR, so what do I know.
As played, I think the turn is good, you’ve setup nicely for a river shove. J9 is still the nuts and you’re the only one who should have that. They shouldn’t have any 2 pair either, and you could have nearly all of them.
I don’t see any reason not to follow through with a jam on the river. If they have an overpair they are going to call because QT is now counterfeit, but you block both aces and kings, and I don’t think they play this way anyway. This is mostly going to be KQ, JJ, JTs, which shouldn’t be calling. (If you don’t think they are capable of folding those hands, then yes, in that case you should just give up on the turn).
Regardless of that, if you feel you’re going to be pot committed and calling a river raise, there’s zero reason not to just jam it all in and maximize your fold equity in the first place.
I think you played it well.
I need to get better at ranging.
