HERE YE HERE YE!!!
Be it known to ALL Donks and ALL Foals of the kingdom that it has occurred much sooner than anticipated and should not go without the appropriate amount of recognition. A former Foal has won the Golden Donks League tournament last night on August 18, 2019!
Congratulations to lovelakeliven for his outstanding play. He cracked my AA and popped my final-table bubble.

_We’re going to need just a little recruiting help from everybody, because…
WE HAVE AN EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT TO MAKE!!!
Effective 10/1/2019, our two leagues will reorganize into one league with three divisions:
The Golden Donk Division - this is our 1st tier and its members will consist of all the members from the current Golden Donks League plus the 8 Foals who advanced from the Grey Foals League at the end of the quarter. The only way to become a Donk in the future is to advance from the 2nd tier.
The Blue Yearling Division - this is our 2nd tier and its members will consist of most of the members of the current Grey Foals League. The only way to become a Yearling in the future is to advance from the 3rd tier.
The Grey Foal Division - this is the 3rd Tier and its members will consist of the remaining members of the current Grey Foals League plus all new inductees, This is the entry tier accepting nominees with a ranking of less than 3000.
This is being announced now to give us 6 weeks to recruit new members to be inducted into the Grey Foals Division on 10/1/2019. That way more Grey Foals can become Blue Yearlings.

RECRUITING -
We invite all Donks and Foals to help us seek qualified players which will make our league even better and stronger.
Here is a good 5-step format to follow when finding and considering nominating a new member:

  1. Check out the players at your RP table and check out your RP friends list.
  2. Click on their name at the table or enter their name into the RP search window to verify that their RP rank is better than 3000.
  3. If you think that their play is worthy, ask them to send a friend request to me (Badonkidonk).
  4. It is important to then also send me the name of your nominee, because some of them will send the friend request and others will not. We want to be sure to follow-up.
  5. If they ask for more information before sending a friend request, simply give them this link to our new Forum. It is here: **The Only Way To Play With The Donks**
If you haven’t read it recently, you should check it out.

FAQ’s - Some of our most senior members have already been consulted about this improvement and here are their most FAQ’s -

  1. Why must we become one league?
League consolidation is being done at the request of Replay, so that we can expand to another tier.
  2. So why do we want another tier?
A 3rd tier will improve the overall quality of play in the league. No longer will a player from Replay be able to join the 2nd tier by simply buying millions of chips and then messaging that they want to join our league. It will now take at least 3 months of qualifying to play at 2/3 of our tables.
  3. How big will each tier get?
We want to put a cap on each tier and start a waiting list for the 3rd tier. If our membership can tell us how long they want our tournaments to run, we can better estimate where to cap the tiers. On August 14, we had 28 Foals register and the tournament lasted 2 hours and 35 minutes. Is that too long? It seems that most everyone likes our tournament structure, so at this time we do not want to change the structure to control the run time.
  4. How many tiers will there be?
We want our league to remain the most unique and elite league within Replay, so we do not foresee any more expansions. This means there will never be a reason to loosen our ranking criteria beyond 3000.
  5. So exactly who will become a Blue Yearling?
After the best 8 Foals of the 3rd quarter advance to our 1st tier Golden Donks Division, we would like to advance all the remaining Foals to the 2nd-tier Blue Yearling Division. However, it is important that we try to maintain a proper balance of members within each division. All the new new recruits will be inducted into the Grey Foals Division on 10/1/2019 so our current Foals League is not overpopulated. At that time, we will make a determination of how many and which of our current Foals will advance to the new 2nd-tier Blue Yearling Division based on how many new recruits are ready to be inducted and the finish of our current Foals on the 3rd quarter leaderboards.
  6. With members advancing each quarter, won’t the top tier eventually get overpopulated?
Yes, so as posted in our Forum on July 1st, when there are too many Donks, some may need to be moved to the 2nd tier based on their finish in the quarterly leaderboard.

A big thanks to all our members for their help during this transition. It will be challenging, but it will be worth it.

As at the 1st October the 1st post in this thread will be out of date. Also players with a 2000 to 3000 ranking may read this post and believe they can’t join - SO - can this post (the 1st post) be updated to include the third tier and it’s qualifying ranking of 3000 or less?

Nice work Badonk.

2.5 hours is good with me so a tier member limit of 35 to 40 would seem appropriate, assuming only about 80% play each tournament.

maybe i’m just dense, but what does this mean? That we’re back to listing all the tournaments together and having people register for the wrong tournament again?

FWIW, former Foals finished 1-2 on the Wednesday tourney on 7/24. FatnSassy won and I took 2nd.

You probably didn’t notice since you were the 2nd player out that night.

How neat! Great idea! I do think that 2.5 hours for a tournament is close to the max. So if having around 30 play yields that time then we just need to know what percentage of members in a division tend to play and set the limit at that number. 50? (After all the inactive members are culled - e.g. turned out to pasture)

How will the split be determined for the foals who go to third tier and those who go to the 2nd tier?

Will the divisions be set up in such a way that it’s not possible to sign up for a game in the wrong division?

i wish i could take credit for being the 1st Foal to win a donk tournament, but i think fatnsassy beat me to it. either way im really proud of the win.

Trying to get myself in a good state of mind for 9PM. Last two that I played in I got knocked out before the blinds went up even once! Eager to try and replicate the success I had in the 1st couple of these I played.
Also, in regards to the changes coming in October, wanted to say think it is a terrific idea! Have a few names in mind that would definitely be able to be in the mix in any tournament!

REPLIES TO THE POSTS:
WOW!!! A very busy day on the Forum today! I like it. Here are the replies:

  1. We took your suggestion, thanks.
  2. That’s about what we were thinking.
  3. LOL Yes, that’s right. You got any ideas how to solve that?
  4. Oops. And I thought that I double checked that too. Ouch, but I deserved that one.
  5. Yes, but 50 could be a little high. LOL
  6. After the 8 Foals advance, we’ll want the 2nd and 3rd tier to be fairly balanced, so the number of remaining Foals that will be able to move to the 2nd tier Blue Yearling Division will depend on how many new recruits are ready to be inducted on 10/1/2019.
No, it’s impossible for Replay to make that not possible, don’t any of our members know how to teach a donkey to read? :grinning:
  7. I wish I’d have noticed that before you posted it the first time.
  8. Nice self psychology. Go on public record with a post. It seemed to work too, 4th.

Thank you and love you all…even if you made me go out in 14th place tonight.

What do you intend to do when a player inevitably signs up for the wrong game and plays in the wrong division?

REPLY TO PUGGYWUG AND DORKUPINE
I’m glad that you are bringing this up here and now. It was frustrating to see that happen a few times back in July when we initially formed the Foals tier. When I first suggested to Replay that they form a second league so members could not cross register, they thought I was joking. “Why can’t the league adequately instruct it’s members to sign up for the right tournament?” It was difficult to give a good answer to that question. I eventually convinced them, but a 3rd league for a 3rd registration page? No way.
So the plan is to have instructions in the tournament reminder message to sign up for the right tournament. The league tournament page will have Gold text for Golden Donks that says “For Donks Only”, blue text for Blue Yearlings that says “For Yearlings Only” and grey text for Grey Foals that says “For Foals Only”.
When a member registers and plays in the wrong tournament for even a single event and knocks out players, one could argue that it contaminates the results of the tournament and the leaderboard for the entire quarter.
So what do you think should be done to a member who plays in the wrong tier tournament?
