My bankroll crossed 40M yesterday on the strength of two solid sessions that contained the following two hands. Pretty pleased with how I played them. Without further ado…
Hand #1
I open QdJd UTG six-handed to 3BB, my standard open size. It folds to the big blind who makes the call, and we head to the flop.
On a board of 7h5d6d, the big blind donks out a half-pot bet. I’m going nowhere with my overcards and flush draw, putting in the call.
The turn comes out a brick, the two of clubs. Again, the big blind leads out, this time with a pot-sized bet. I again call, looking to bluff on the river if I don’t get there.
However, I do make my flush when the river brings the seven of diamonds. The big blind again bets pot. I raise to put him all in, and he folds, giving me a nice-sized uncontested 116BB pot. For my efforts, he calls me a fish after I show him my hand.
Hand #2
We’re five-handed. UTG just joined the table and is forced to commit a big blind, and checks the option. I’m feeling frisky and open 6h4h to 3BB in the cutoff. It folds to the big blind, who puts in a call, and UTG folds. Once again, we’re heads up heading to the flop.
The flop lands 6d9d4s, and I’m loving my bottom two pair. The big blind checks, and I bet 2BB into a pot of 7.5BB, getting a call.
The turn is beautiful, the six of clubs, giving me a boat. I bet just over 2/3 pot, 8BB into a pot of 11.5BB. The big blind calls.
The river is the seven of clubs. Again, the big blind checks. I put in a slight overbet of 30BB into a pot of 27.5BB, get the call, and show the bad news. Turns out the big blind had an overpair, TdTs, and didn’t believe the story I was telling. After rake, I end up with a nice 865K pot.
