Why can't we still not raise when someone is all in

Hand #355276765

… and why are so many forum threads closed?

Cheers

Jo–I went and looked at this hand and fail to understand your question. ?
Also, my understanding is that the forum threads are being reorganized. If you have lost access to any particular thread that you miss, post the name of the thread here. Will that help?

Hi Galak and Jancee Here’s what I see. Galak is right. When Galak bet 270 after the flop Gwenative went all in with 278 there was one other player still in and Galak was forced to call the raise of 8 chips where he wanted to raise to protect his hand . I have had that happen to me a few times and I also didn’t like it either but I think there is a reason behind why he had to call and not raise then. Someone help me with that answer please.

Thanks Mark

@marklou
The extra 8 chips do not meet the minimum requirements to be considered a raise and is treated as a call so therefore cannot reopen the betting. Galak can only call or fold. If he were to by allowed to raise in this instance he would be raising his own initial bet.
There is another thread with the same name explains it too

Most places an all in overcall must be over 50 % of the minimum raise amount to be considered a raise.

Thanks

This is what I was about to say. the 8 raise does not reopen the betting

The 50% rule applies to Fixed Limit. In No Limit, the raise must be at least the size of the bet, or sum of the under raises exceed the size of the bet

A post was merged into an existing topic: Tidying up the categories

replay decided to close most threads that are kept dormant for a month or longer and only keep the ones open that they deem important enough to do so with, i would also have liked to see them stay open since dormant posts won´t get into the way in the first place. but at least there are actions to minimize the trouble of getting them closed.
