Recently, I was watching a final table, somewhere, some year.
Between hands, Daniel Negreanu muttered something like “This game isn’t so tough. You just fold the bad hands and bet the good ones.”
A couple of players were quick to admonish Daniel for revealing trade secrets, but it was too late.
IT’S ALL CLEAR TO ME, NOW !!!
That’s the easy part. The problem is that most players can’t tell a bad hand when they have one. That’s the tough part.
I have JJ. 4d5h6h7h on the board. All in!
Have to protect against the 4th heart on the river!
he wrote a pocketbook about it in 2007
Kid poker maybe the nicest player out there–also, a VERY good player and good all-around guy-and smart:).
Maybe at one point this was true, but he’s said and done some terribly cringe-worthy things.
You ever see Phil H… now he a BIG piece of walking…—about the biggest jerk n crybaby-sore loser-big mouth-yelling at poor dealers etc. person in poker…He is doing promos for our casino in Pittsburgh n my nieces husband is the poker room manager n wanted 2 introduce me 2 him–i said NO THANKS:).
Do not know about now-just know when i played a little with him when much younger and watched him play and saw IN person what kind of person he was…
Yes Hellmuth can be a complete d****he sometimes, but often he’s fine. He’s not the worst, no way. Freidman, Kassem, Khabrel, a couple others, they are all worse. Hellmuth is only a jerk 20% of the time, while those guys are jerks 100% of the time. And on top of that, they’re also angle-shooters, straight-up scumbags.
I’ve only seen Hellmuth do something shady once. The rest of the time it’s just tilt tantrums. And he’s the easiest target because he’s such a huge draw that there’s always a camera at his table and his tantrums go viral every time.
Try watching him in person-he is a jerk 100%-no film or tv on-he still an idiot…I never NEVER blamed a dealer or yelled at another player for playing bad n beating me lol–i know, i played much less money but a jerk is a jerk n he is a BIG jerk:).
Never said that he wasn’t. Just saying that there are players with far worse attitudes and behavior.
The thing is-he has been a GREAT player for years-and supposed 2 be a leader and spokesperson for poker–he an embarrassment with NOOO sportsmanship at all n a big baby lol. I played lots of sports in my time (4 major operations 2 prove it lol ) and NEVER saw anyone lose and act like that or treat other players etc. like that—His wife must be embarrassed for him
I understand what you’re saying, but how many people in the hand? Did you make a healthy raise (not just one bet) preflop or did you limp? If you are one v one against a player who has to see every flop and you’re pot committed, making him pay the maximum to suck out might be the play. The beauty of poker is there are no hard and fast rules. Even Daniel Negreanu bets bad hands, and sometimes he wins with them.
Why is he supposed to be a leader and spokesperson? Where is it written that you must give back? Maybe he’s the most prolific winner because that is all he cares about. It would be nice for him to be a gracious ambassador, but it’s not mandatory.
I SEE you never played sports:(
I see you also know little about poker my friend lol:).
No one is ever obligated to be a role model.
Your 100% right–the GREAT (even average) ones just do it—it is called being a good person:).
See is not a synonym for assume. In fact, I have played sports and am fully aware that many players are celebrated for their philanthropy and charitable work. Regardless, there are many others who don’t and no one complains. It’s voluntary.
As it happens, I googled Hellmuth’s charitable work and found he does a good deal of it, both on his own and in conjunction with tournaments. So, for all his whining, he actually does set a positive example.
On a side note, it occurs to me that the things you just said about me are the types of things Hellmuth says to opponents when he goes on tilt. Maybe you don’t like him because you see the worst of yourself in him.
