What's Better: Let the cards win, or bluff the win?

bluffing

I enjoy bluffing but don’t do it often in part because I get a great deal of satisfaction from letting the cards do the winning. I admire the chutzpah of bluffers, although I am happier to be beat by the cards than by a bluff. In the Poker Amusement League, winning cards are revealed at the end of every hand; there’s a “No Mucking” rule. It’s good to know who the habitual bluffers are so I can change my play accordingly.

I also don’t bluff , maybe once a month …lol I do think though if someone bluffs and shows it’s good for note takers.

Bluffing correctly is an art form in poker and I admire those that can do it. You only have seconds in online poker to make that decision. I’m not masterful enough to do it correctly so I let my cards do the talking here, live cash games, we’ll that’s another story

I’ve always thought the best bluff was to pretend weakness when actually holding the unbreakable nuts. That also has the extra advantage of slowing weak bluffers down which reduces my cost of calling and being wrong.

People find it easy to bluff with free chips.

I actually find it easier to bluff with real cash, because it is easier to get folds. With play money chips, I think it is easier for people to call, which then makes it harder to bluff.

Oh, and for the question, yes, I prefer to do both.

What’s better is winning the most chips for your winning hand, whether you won it by fold or by showdown. That means getting called when you have the best hand, getting bluffs through when you need to. Getting paid in full when you have a very strong hand is the best feeling.

Bluffing with air is a long term road to nowhere on replay, you see all sorts of garbage getting called down and making the bluffer look a bit silly, like the all in stone cold bluff with 3-6 off etc . I see big bets on dry boards when you know they are bluffing but I just let them go and hope next time I will be holding a big pair. Bluffing is part of the game but you have to make it believable to succeed in the long term. I rarely bluff on here but may use the old semi bluff from time to time.
