I am a living room thrill-seeker, it appears. The rush I get from an exciting game of poker is probably something I first experienced watching edge-of-the seat, white knuckle TV shows. I used to scare myself, while baby-sitting into the late night (for a school girl), by watching “Mission: Impossible” alone in the dark
Twilight Zone, Jackie Gleason, the original Tonight Show with Steve Allen (was on at 7PM on week nights), Captain Video (20 minute episodes), Ed Sullivan (a rally big shew, tonight!), Jack Benny, Walt Disney presents and Mickey Mouse Club…
These two make me feel sick, only because I never got to watch them except when I was home from school sick! (Same experience drinking grape juice.) lol
I’ve seen your entire list but for the anime! I’ve even seen the two original mini series for V and V:The Final Battle back in the early 80’s. My kids are trying to get me into anime but I just don’t have time. My life is split into 4 parts… work sleep poker wife (in no particular order).
The first mission impossible was definitely an original and James Bond is why I play poker the new bond is my favorite to bad he’s hanging his hat but to think, Fleming out on an island writing bond let’s me know our imagination is what movies are made of.
As Grape suggested ‘Only fools and horses’ is outstanding and the scene ‘Del boy’s poker face’ is pure classic and a most watch for pokerists (my word for pokering people)
May I add “keeping up appearances” to your list of must watch comedies. You will wet yourself laughing at Hyacinth Bucket (its Bouquet). It was, and still is, one of the best written and acted shows ever.
‘some mothers do ave em’ was also brilliant. Silly, daft, engagingly different and slap-stick original. Frank Spencer was an early role played by Michael Crawford who went on to be one of the greatest Phantoms of the Opera ever.
