I have recently learned that we should have more check-raises in these spots than I had thought. Especially in tournament play, I figure top pair good kicker has to go in that bucket at least some of the time. It’s encouraging to see that we can get all the money in against a hand as weak as unpaired broadway. For 100bb!
How often do you play these boards this aggressively out of position? If you’re anything like me, the answer is probably “not often enough.”
Players are getting more sneaky now days. The term “Trapping” is used more on poker now days. Due to the fact that people are pretending they don’t have anything on their hand more than enough, you must be careful on betting big on OOP. I just finished a game because pocket K has checked till the others bet and I fell in that trap. OOP is very uncertain. It does not mean that you can’t bet, but be careful and analyze player’s style and betting habits before you jump on it.
Yeah wet dynamic flops are good candidates to go with a strong pair OOP, as players will generally be more reluctant to trap (since too many hands could “get there for cheap” on too many turns and rivers).
