SWAG CONTEST: Happy birthday, Replay! Share what age you started playing poker for a shot at a swag or chips!

Back in the days poker was streaming on TV and it got me in poker. The very first time I played poker I was about 20y.o. I started to play on FullTiltPoker. It was really fun to play online and later with friends.

Started playing 5-card draw when I was a kid, then learned holdem rules in teenage years and soon understood that poker is science and takes decades to learn

In 2015 I watched the BSOP championship online, researched how I played, learned a little. In the same year I discovered the replay poker website, encouraged my cousins to play, and taught them poker, and I still play here today.

I remember playing penny ante poker with my grandfather when I was around 10 or so. Fast forward to about 6 years ago when my husband started to teach me to play because I was losing too much money at the slot machines while he was in the poker room!!! I also look at videos and watch tv to help improve my game.

I started when Daniel Negreanu was at PokerStars and had a promotion on
Canadian TV; where we would get the password to participate in a freeroll.
I was 55 at the time.

My Dad ran a crooked Poker School, as they called it in Scotland. The games were mostly 3 card Brag, Blackjack and 5 card stud, no draw that you could also bet blind.

Dad brought me into the business when I was 16, taught me the tricks and I practiced like a madman until he was convinced I looked natural. I desperately wanted to get into the “Family Business”. We always had 2 insiders at every table, this boosted the odds enough to permit for dependable profits.
The School went on for almost 9 years and I played for the last 4.

The School was taking in about £2,000 every week. My Dad took £500 and the rest of us split the rest. As junior man, I was making £80 clear a week 60 years ago. Senior Bobbies were making £20 /week so you get some idea of how successful the operation was. This was accomplished without needing mechanics, just shading the odds.

We moved to Canada and my Dad bought a nursing home and never played cards again. For him, it was a business, not a pleasure.

it was 10:30pm on my 30th birthday!
There was a gentle warm breeze with the moon 3/4 full

I was about 12, when I started high school

Hi. Started playing with my relatives during holidays after eating. I was probably 10 to 12. They used pennies and played mostly stud with Wild Cards.

I started playing online poker back in the 2000’s. My brother introduced me to it and made my 1st deposit of $5. What he didn’t give me was his propensity for luck though so I relegated myself to weekend $1 tournaments. I had a ball playing on Full Tilt, Pokerstars and Absolute Poker websites. I bought some books and followed televised poker shows, watching the pros do their thing. My favorites were the women. I’ll never forget watching Annie Duke take the Poker Brat Phil Helmuth down a couple of pegs during a heads-up tour nament. It was exciting and fun. Alas we know what happened next, 2011 black Friday with the good old greedy USA literally pulling the plug by shutting down the sites and banning the games in the US. It was a back alley move that really screwed over our citizenry, and was the beginning of the decline of liberty in this country. I still play online but as BB King used to sing " The Thrill is Gone".
Never did get my money back!
