I play $100-$ 200 tables all the time. Last 6 months or so every time i go to a table The blind keeps getting raised in nearly every hand. Its called 100 to 200 blind table for a reason. Yet a lot of people want to put in blinds of $1,000s. Why is this allowed. They dont want to go to bigger betting tables. They tell me im a stirrer when i question people about it. Would be nice if the rules were stuck to. The company that makes the rules should enforce them. I am not enjoying playing anymore at this site. Please help me in this matter.
Hi nautiglass,
What you are talking about are raises and are perfectly legal. The blinds are forced bets and are there to force action. Like any bet that is made, any other player still in the hand may raise.
I understand you are frustrated but the only advice I have for you is to wait till you have a good hand and then reraise. Maybe cut back on the limping as it is generally considered not to be a winning strategy.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!
Sorry Nautiglass that your not enjoying, but what your seeing, experiencing, is completely legal according to the rules of Poker.
Raising is part of poker. When players play semi marginal to semi ok to semi good to good to very good hands, they should be raising 2.5, 3, 4, 3.5 times the BB. In 100/200 tables that’s 500 to 600 to 750 to 900 raise preflop. Even semi bad, semi bluff starting hands should occasional raise it up preflop in good spots.
Because of all those things, that, there will be a Standard raise about 73% of the time preflop. That’s standard. That’s how it should be played.
It should be played that way because:
- Raise thins the field so that your up against 0,1,2,3 players, instead of 5,6,7 players.
- Picks up uncontested pots preflop
- Steals, takes blinds
- Can give the impression of bullying, even tho not bullying, and that can cause other players to tilt, misplay, play bad, etc.
- Is almost semi quasi semi bullying, that pick up pots, that tilts players, that can cause other players to misplay, play bad, over react.
- To Balance out your starting hand Range. If you only raise AA, your going to be extremely predictable, beatable, beat a lot, over the long term, as players will fold to your raises, causing you to win the minimum when get a AA type hand. Or players will call hoping, trying to hit a monster hand postflop knowing that you have a AA type hand that would lose to their monster hand postflop.
Players are not being mean. They have nothing against you personally. And even if they are being very aggressive, pushing you around, bullying you in a poker kind of way, then you counter that by either playing more tightly, and calling them down semi lighter, but still with tight, good hands, by selectively playing good, tighter hands. By taking a stand. By occasionally playing back at them, fighting back, pushing them, etc.
Also even if blinds were 500/1000 players would still raise to 3500 about 67% of hands(A player would not raise 67% of hands(normally)But every hand 1 of the players will raise about 70% of the time). If Blinds 5k/10k Raises would be 35,000. Just because get a raise to 1000 at 100/200 level, stakes, does not mean that they are trying to play at 500/1000 blinds level, stakes. Just because a raise to 5000 at 500/1000 level, stakes does not mean they trying to play at 2500/5000 blind levels, stakes, etc, and on up.
If dont like this, if this is not the way you want to play, then game select, find a different table that does not play that way. It can be done, tho tables that not like that, are less common. And that’s true at any site, any poker game, as this is how poker is often played no matter where you go in the world.
I suggest you Read, study, Harrington on Hold Em Poker, Upswing Poker, Nathan Blackrain, Johnathan Little, ask for tips here, learn how to play and learn how to play better, and how to deal with this kind of play.
Again this is how poker can, is semi often played, is part of the game, is ok according to rules, etc.
Again I am sorry that your not liking your experience with poker.
So you are saying the two blind players after the dealer can raise as much as the y like. If that so why do you name tables at certain bet denominations.
The format you are playing is NO LIMIT TEXAS HOLDEM, where it is legal for any player to raise any amount of money that they have in front of them.
You should look into switching to FIXED LIMIT or at the minimum POT LIMIT where people are forced not to raise big amount of money. But it is going to be hard to find action since those formats are not as enticing as NO LIMIT and not enough of people play those.
Also the bet denominations are just to know what are the minimum bets, basically what stakes that you are playing at. You should look into bankroll management to know what stakes you are supposed to be playing at.
Yes absolutely. Since the players in the blinds are the last to act, if every other player who didn’t fold just limps, absolutely the players in the blinds can raise. If someone raises, then the subsequent players (including the players in the blinds) may fold, call or raise. The posting the blinds are not player actions and every player gets the opportunity to act on their turn. The players in the blinds are simply the last to act in the first betting round.
As far as naming the tables goes, Categorizing the tables/games by blinds amounts just makes sense. It tells a player the minimum bet, gives a sense of the probable betting range and (with a little experience/research), the min/max buy in. Remember the blinds are merely starting points for the betting action.
Cheers Mate!
You are playing no limit hold’em. That means that there is no limit to the size of your bet (other than what you have in your stack).
The blinds are simply forced bets made by the first two players before the cards are dealt. After that, you can bet anything in your stack.
It’s chips, not $$$.
the game is called poker not checkers… try playing pot limit or fixed limit if you can’t handle the heat of NL
Very helpful arent you
Nothing to do with HEAT. Work it out logically. Checkers takes a lot of brains to play.
Bless your little heart!
What the Topic starter is trying to explain is this site’s biggest problem!
People trying to learn or just have fun, Then inept yet slightly better players come to the Baby tables and go ALL IN over and over endlessly to build their bank rolls because they had their butts beaten by real players when they tried to play with the BIG BOYS!
That is so totally and completely bull from any angle that you look at it.
1 ~ The better players win money at better stakes. The lower stakes aren’t worth playing once your bankroll gets high enough. Lower stakes is a waste of time.
2 ~ If they are constantly jamming, just exploit them by tightening up and calling them with strong made hands. If these ‘better players’ are coming down to low stakes to play that badly, it’s good for the low stakes players.
3 ~ There are always freerolls. One can play them and have fun forever without harming their own bankroll.
Spoken like a true blue regular every day chip buyer ALL IN every hand Player!
P.S. I’ve never bought chips once, Not even My first sign in, L00K it up!
the fact is that replay gives the free chips maybe 5 times a day. I think the login free chips should be IT!
I believe this would help cutdown on the all in all the time. All in has its place in NL poker
You don’t say what buyin you play but you won’t see as many all ins at higher stakes IMO
I have never bought chips also
Good, Be patient, PAIRS are best to bet on!
2nd is Ace or King suited with same suit any kind is best!
Good Luck till Luck doesn’t matter, CHEERS!
Like @napkin_holder says, this is rubbish. Adding two more reasons:
-
This is not at all what the original post was complaining about
-
Going all-in all the time is just not a winning strategy at any stake
Blinds CAN-NOT be raised at tables-----I think they are pre-flop raising and it happens all the time here (especially with bingo donks lol ) got to get used to it my friend and just have fun"
