good point… I dunno! maybe go by a Player’s ranking?
Someone mentioned using the rankings to determine board eligibility. That’s not a bad idea. If it were up to me, though, I would create a lower ranking . . . perhaps beginner, that would only be eligible for the lowest stakes boards. This might be a powerful incentive for some of these guys to play the game seriously. I’m sure most of them would not be pleased to identified as beginner. Most of them like to think of themselves as poker experts because they watch it on TV. Perhaps some of them would play a bit more sensibly in order to rid themselves of the beginner label. It might be just the incentive some of them would need to stop playing nonsensically and then LOL’ing when they lose.
Wow, From Senior classification to beginners ranking… I really think the issue is a system that will rank by something other than chip count. Everyone in this string have good ideas. It may be tough love but there needs to be some kind of penalty for chronically poor play. Like treating them like a little kid and put them in timeout!
This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Poker for Seniors. I would say that the reaction time of a Senior Player is slower than the younger folks playing and there should be some type of separate poker venue for the Seniors. I am aware that you can’t check ages but for me the Honor System always worked the best.
I have come accross many of these players over the years on many different poker sites, myself and friends just refer to them as ATM’s they are very annoying but can also be very profitable if you fold until you have the best hand then hit them with what you have.
Just my 2 cents worth.
Hello Deidre! Yes, I absolutely agree. The occasions when I have won the largest number of chips has been when I just do a lot of folding—which also tends to get them to underestimate you— and wait patiently until I get a good hand, then hit them for everything they have at the table. They usually go away in shock. I am mildly concerned about those who obviously don’t care if they lose all their chips. They go all in and then say LOL when they lose. I have talked to Mr Replay about this and offered him a couple of ideas as to how these kinds of players might be motivated to take their chips more seriously. When you are playing with a person who just does not care at all, it disrupts the natural dynamics of the game. Thanks for responding.

i’ve played poker about 45 years and i’ve seen it all. i’ve seen cash players play just as wild as some on this site.Saw a fellow come into our game and drop 8K and was gone in 30 min. i personally say LET THE CHIPS FALL WHERE THEY MAY. if people want to play that way just be patient and you’ll get a hand and send them on the way. good luck and good day.
