Was seated in a tournament this evening and watched some of the most vulgar chat thrown at players; it took a lot of the fun out of the game. Consider a chat filter that would ******* out some of the most vulgar profanity.
look on home page for moderators and report to them players names ty spgodog

I think this is a great idea. We could simply star out all swear words. I’ll wait to see if it gets a few more votes before adding it to our development schedule (only so many hours in the day!). Talking about reporting, perhaps a report this user feature in the game that sends an alert to all moderators would prove useful too?

You as player send alert to mods, I like thet. Now it is hard to reach them do. I write with profanity filter as I want. so i think waste of resourses. Explan it to you; Marcipan; WHAT A F@CK YOU WANT B1TCH!!! OR as a continious chat; Marcipan; F Marcipan: U Marcipan: C Marcipan: K Marcipan; YOU OR simply; Marcipan;FFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!

I think that better reporting and mute options will make this less of a problem. It’s certainly going to be a challenge to create a profanity filter that deals with all the examples you’ve listed marcipan.

Marcipan makes a very good point; aside from the amount of software engineering needed, no matter how sophisticated you make the filter, you wont be able to catch everything. The recent suggestion to add a button to allow players to more easily report inappropriate chat is probably the better and more cost effective solution.
I vote for a chat filter and a report button.
They are words and only words. Remember what we were taught as kids, Sticks and stones? I guess some people didn’t get that as children, and now as adults they still carry it around. If you don’t use fowl language, it won’t follow you. I personally find it funny, and let it roll off my back. Unless they are talking bad about your character or someone elses, no need to say …!
Why is it so hard to tell adult people no swear words aloud on here? They are adults now, aren’t they?
We’ve added a profanity filter to the game and lobby chat. Now if you let loose with a barrage of profanity expect it to be ******** out. As always we welcome your feedback, so do tell us what you think and how we can continue to improve the site.

sorry everyone else likes it, reporting annoying/abusive things to mods is fine…but blocking out every little ******* thing on a poker site is kinda overkill. We all deal w/ annoying play, but ultra censorship is the way to go?

This is hilarious! Talk about over kill. I typed in ho hum when i lost, and I was starred ** hum? Really? I’ve never sworn on this site ever, and I don’t plan on it. But I have to say are we adults, or are we little kids that need correcting? Oh kids are not meant to be billy goats. I am over 18 and don’t need correction. If you want this site to be a christian site so be it, but I think the miss communication gaps are going to be a big problem. Who’s picking the words to be ***? My word for beautiful may not mean the same as the next persons. I believe it’s all in the way you type your words. Perhaps a list of the naughty words would be ever so helpful. So that the next time, maybe at xmas I wont be ** by saying ho ho ho!
I like the ideal of blocking cursing, it can be very hard to play with some one saying very rude hateful thing either to you or other player,
Hi gopo, thanks for the feedback. We’ve used a list of some 600 words, but the example you made is a good one of where the word can be quite innocent but because it’s starred out it gives the impression you swore when you never did.
If you want me to send you the list of swear words, then let me know and I’ll email it to you, and anybody else for that matter. Perhaps you could help us to go through the list and remove any which you think are ‘overkill’ or could be misinterpreted like that one above.
KKilo, what would be your preference? Only filtering out certain words, or have no filtering at all? Tell us what you think, and how you think it could be improved. We’re always open to suggestions.
