Congrats Mick on a great battle. Well played Whitney and Ray. Good time tonight…
Denied 5th win Again.
Hand #1190073866 · Replay Poker (casino.org)
Bluffed about 10 to 13 times. Cbetted about 70% of time. About 43% of time that cbetted, either had air, or semi bluffed. Saw the flop about 26% of time. VPIP was about 23%, 24% of time. Guru would have been proud as I bluffed garbage like 93, Q7, etc. Took Players to Value Town.
There was one of the winners in TOC that I was successfully picking on his blinds regularly, and about half the time had something, and half the time had nothing. I raised 65 suited from UTG +2 about 2.5 x bb pre over his bb, and he called. Flopped the straight, and stacked him.
Very late tourney I got card dead, and got caught stealing blinds, 2,3 times, where I had marginal hands where blinds 2k/4k, 3k/6k. and ran into 1,2,3 buzzsaws. Got bad beat out in 4th place.
I played pretty good, too bad I was bad beated, knocked out in 4th, but such has been typical bad luck.
It was a race to the finish of the RPOS High Roller Series and @Younguru had the best kick at the end to overtake @_snowman and @rcw3333 on the final stretch. Nordic Warriors looking strong with a 1st, 2nd, and 9th (@_Rain ) showing in this series. Don’t feel bad for Norris though he is one game away from wrapping up the League of Legends POY.
League of Legends Leaderboard Congrats to Norris the @_snowman for a great win along with fellow warriors @Floppasaurus 5th, @Asuronetorius 6th, @Excaliburns 8th, and @_Rain 11th.
Great performances and so much to brag about on your behalf. Go Warriors!!!
Snow already has the League of Legends leaderboard, player of year, already LOCKED up no matter what happens in the last tournament. He is about 60k+ ahead, and even a Tournament win won’t grant enough points to overtake him, so Congratulations Snowman for locking up, winning the League of Legends Leaderboard, player of year, and the Replay mug, swag, etc.
Snow has 1 more chance to get 4th win, to equal my 4 wins. I’m going to try to gun for a 5th win, but since its not likely, if I don’t win, I hope Rain, or Southwestmba, or XNemesis, or a Nordic Warrior or Sarah, win into RPOS TOC, like they deserve to, being deservingly great awesome players that have just had a lot of bad luck in the RPOS.
Sickest fold in forever. I haven’t folded Aa in forever.
My reasoning for the fold, was I was between very tight to tight to semi tight to semi moderate at loosest. So my early position AA raise looks extremely strong. Villain is probably calling with 99, TT, JJ, QQ, AK, AJ, AT suited, KJ suited, KQ, T9 suited. I slowplayed, and paid for it, but at least the price wasnt too expensive.
Flop was JKx, turn brought a Q, I bet half pot. Villain reraises about a 100 bb stack all in. Villain could easily have KJ, T9, JJ, QQ, 2 pair, set, straight. It was about 50/50 probably on whether Villain had AK, KT, something I beat, or KJ, T9, KQ, JJ which could easily fit his call range, and have me beat with 2 pair, set, straight. Villain was also tight, and didnt see him get out of line, etc. Just too gambly, risky, to call off 100+ big blind stack on a 50/50 coinflip chance that ahead, behind. Also it was a underbluffed spot, and I couldnt see the tight player reraising 100 bb’s all in on such a scary sick board over the tight UTG raiser in me, unless he had something that at least 50/50 beating me, something extremely good.
Maybe it was too tight, too much of a overfold, exploit, but I figured I could turn down that coinflip spot, and find a better spot, and use edge. I did find other spots, opportunities, and cashed the Hi Roller RPOS main event.
Then very LATE tournament I was ultimate 72 type hands extreme card dead for 17+ hands, and got blinded down, and had to shove T8 suited the best hand that had in 17+ hands, very late tourney.
I also lost 2,3 coinflips, got knocked down to a 1k CRIPPLED stack, and made miraculous comeback to cash.
Here is the AA hand history.
Dont often see somebody fold AA, and its been FOREVER since I have folded AA before this time.
Thanks Andy @southwestmba and @Asuronetorius. I would have liked to have gotten that fourth win, but winning the League of Legends title more than makes up for not getting it. I was so tired last night that i fell asleep fairly early into the game. I think I may have played about 6 hands before the zzzzzz’s started and i was out like a light. I had several opportunities to get the fourth win, but fell just short. Several factors could have contributed to not getting that win, but I make no excuses, I just couldn’t get its done.
Congratulations to Luke, @Younguru, on winning the High Roller Series championship. Luke is a tremendous player and very deserving of that title.
Congratulations also to all the Nordic Warriors that participated in the RPOS. This league has tremendous players and the results of the RPOS show how strong a league we have. Well Done Warriors!!!
Best of Luck to all this coming quarter.
@Asuronetorius Trivially good fold. Very little chance you were ahead. Well played.
Congratulations to both of you for your incredible achievements in the RPOS series. Winning titles in the League of Legends and High Roller tournaments is no small feat, and your dedication and skill truly shone through.
It’s an honor to have such talented players like you in the Nordic Warriors league. Your presence not only elevates the competition but also inspires all of us to strive for greatness. Thank you for being a part of our league and for bringing your A-game to every match.
Warriors!
Yeah your right, it is a trivial fold in a way, or at least should be a trivial fold in a way. But how often do you see AA folded like that in that situation. Usually AA is only folded to a 4 liner card straight or a 4 card flush, or if board is showing both a combo 3 card straight and 3 card flush on the river.
While it was semi likely to me, you, others that I was beat by a 2 pair, set, straight, it’s not as likely to most players. Usually only very good players, semi sharks, semi pros make those kind of folds, as most players think, in that hand that they up against top pair of kings in that hand, and cant or wont effectively hand range, and narrow that range effectively to where they can see how AA can be beat by that board. And even if they can see it, then they are too attached to AA, too stubborn, refuse to fold AA vs that kind of board, that not a 4 liner straight or flush, etc.
So trivial fold to you, me, others, but not a trivial fold to most players.
Thanks for the comment.
I always wondered how great Younguru could be if he took it
even more seriously.
We’re here for the friendly banter and the competitive poker initially.
During RPOS XII, the stats were collected but certain stats weren’t collected.
The success rate of the player, I’d say Snowman outperformed
Youguru overall, Luke would even agree with that statement.
Who typed or chatted more?
The question begs to be asked!
Younguru certainly did!
Snowman was a lot less and more successful!
This “stat” needs to be explored!
I was very impressed with the “silent” oleary123 winning 4.
Going about his business and outperforming both snowman and Younguru.
On the flipside, Asuronetorius was very “talkative” at the tables and won
4 faster than oleary123!
If both Younguru and Asuronetorius toned down their chat, would it
ironically have a detrimental effect or could it improve their results?
It should be noted that the player considered to be the most successful
has the name “TheSilent1”
Yet, if I’m not mistaken, Younguru just edged out TheSilent1…
Go figure!
Rain, I would like to do a shout out to you, and recognize all the work you do, etc. Your also a awesome player in your own right. Your as good as Snow, Guru, Floppasaurus, Southwestmba, XNemesis, Excaliburns, RyRyRobe, Sassy Sarah, Pos111, Silent1, me, (sorry if I have left anyone out), etc. The only reason you didnt win a spot into the RPOS 12 TOC, is because you got unlucky, despite your good play, and the rest of us got lucky, and played well. You deserve to be in the RPOS 12 TOC as much as any of us in the RPOS 12 TOC. So thanks for all you do, and for being such a tough, good, awesome poker player. Thanks Rain.
Chatting doesn’t affect my play at all <3
@_snowman got better results than me because his large-field MTT NLHE strategy is better than mine right now. That’s all
He plays his A-game more consistently than I do. I probably bring my best poker to the table about 1 in 10 times that I play.
During my run in Q3 where I won 4 of 6 O8 events in a row, there were times when I felt my odds of winning 1st place were about 40-50%. Not out of ego, but because I could just “feel” that I was outperforming the field by a significant margin. I was making plays nobody else was making. I was extracting max value from my good hands, and making spidey-sense laydowns in spots where I’m “supposed” to call and lose.
Sometimes I reach a level that feels significantly different from my everyday ho-hum routine play. I’m doing a lot of meta self-assessment recently, trying to identify the variables that get me “in the zone.”
If I played my highest level all the time, I think the results would be truly frightening!
That’s next on my list. Stay tuned
The Nordic Warrior trend has been “one and done” as another comes along for the glory.
From my point of view, I was invited by Sue who was the Omaha champ.
I won her title by edging out SW.
Then SW won it all.
Snowman was next leaving you hungry
Seems the likelihood of a Younguru win is imminent!
But, if Snowman is truly the better player, then the pattern will be broken!
Joe,
I tend to agree with Luke, that commenting at the tables doesn’t affect my play. I think commenting is more a social/personality trait and those that are more extroverted will chat more. I am an introvert and tend to chat more when I play with other players I know more and are more comfortable with (same as in my non online poker life). If I am on a table with strangers, I hardly chat at all. Even playing with players I am comfortable with, sometimes I just don’t feel like chatting much. So I doubt that there is any correlation between chatting and success at the tables.
Norris (@_snowman) set the bar higher than it has ever been nearly putting up nearly 400,000 combined points, @Younguru won 7 Omaha HiLo games yet he admits he can play better, @Asuronetorius may have figured out Omaha and certainly has shown the results in hold’em. But never count out Michael (@_Rain) the one who may actually be in line to forfill @Excaliburns trend as he finished 2 in the combined last year. Or maybe this is @Trish-da-Fish or @mrzick quarter to take the top off. And never count out a past champion @tinboat @Sue13 @MrFish68, Joe, or the South guy. Sounds like we have a showdown all quarter and that is why I love being a part of this league. In the words of Abraham Lincoln Be Excellent to one another and party on dude!!!
Was I really that talkative at the RPOS tables? Usually I only talk, say hello to everybody, and occasionally respond, interact, if I find what somebody said to be interesting. Most of the time I am quiet at the Poker Table, especially mid tournament, late tournament, so I can, will focus better, play better, etc. That said, there were certain players like RyRyRobe, Guru, Sassy Sarah, etc, who would talk to me, others, who said funny, entertaining, interesting things, that got me to open up a little tiny bit, and do some talking at the table. But despite that, I wouldn’t say, and don’t think I am a big talker at the poker table, in fact a lot of poker players, both offline, online, real money, or play money, say I am a quiet, boring player, that bores them to tears, lol.
I think there is some truth to what you say about being quiet at the table. Those that talk a lot at the table can give out too much info about themselves that can give out too much info, firepower to opponents, to be used against you in game. Daniel Negreanu is a successful talker that finds out, gets useful info, but he is a anomaly, as most of us would be better off doing the opposite of Negreanu by being quiet at the table and not giving out as much info.
I will say for my part that I definitely use table talk as a form of misdirection sometimes. I inhabit different poker “personas” when I’m at the table; some of them are more genuine than others.
When I am feeling good I will often become extremely chatty and talk a lot of sh!t. For me, it’s fun, but it also adds to the impression that I’m just playing “fast and loose” when in reality, though always hyperaggressive, I am in fact making calculated plays.
So there’s that element as well. Image is important, and I sometimes talk to cultivate a certain image that I think will get me more action. I don’t do as well in tight/passive games, so I kinda try to lighten the mood and get people to play more loosey-goosey having a sandwich talking on the phone, if you know what I mean
agree with @southwestmba that in this league, one overlooks any other player at one’s own peril. don’t be fooled by recency bias; Norris and I had a good run last quarter, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to win this quarter. there’s a lotta sharks in these waters. the slate’s been wiped clean and it’s anyone’s game now.
sharpen your swords, Warriors…
I agree with Southwestmba, and Younguru, others. I do think there are some consistently top players like Snow, Younguru, Rain, Southwestmba, Excaliburns, XNemesis, Sue13, Tinboat, MrFish, others(If I have left anybody out, then I am sorry), that in top 5 to 7 to 10 to 12 players, consistently, and better then the rest of the competition. But that doesn’t mean everybody else is slouches, as everybody else is pretty good as well, it’s just that the top 5 to 12 is better then everybody else consistently. Despite that, the competition, player skill is so close, so good, etc, that it’s usually luck, combined with whoever is playing their best A game over everybody else that goes on temporary, semi consistent, semi heaters and wins tournaments, quarters, TOC’s, etc. It might be 1 player 1 time, then a completely different player another time because of luck, etc.
As to me, and where I think I fit in, is I think I am a solid player, semi shark, almost semi pro, etc, that’s in the top 13 players that’s not quite as good as the top players and that’s almost as good as the top players, that has room for improvement, to hopefully become even better, and that the great results I have had, semi might semi probably the result of just being on a heater, and being lucky, and playing my A game, etc.
