Oh! And I got to check off one of my Replay bucket list items and play some heads-up O8 with michelle40 (rank 156), one of the players whose Omaha Hi-Lo game has most impressed me since I’ve waded into those ring games more often.
I was playing really well and up about 6M after maybe 40 hands or so. Then she stacked me
River-Killer had been doing that a lot, like every couple orbits just massive overbet shove into a small pot on the flop. Showed a few premiums like QQ and stuff. So I started taking flyers with junk in position to just try and catch him overplaying 1pair.
Down to 735M
various losses HU and short-handed at 500k/1M vs. BobbyMora and others
-down about 80M HU vs. DARLINGGIRL; flopped trips vs. her full house for a cool 50M chip pot (thankfully she just called rather than 3bet the river, coulda been way worse)
-up about 40M HU vs. @MansoorH, which is always lucky bc he’s an absolute monster heads-up
-as a consolation prize for getting my butt thoroughly kicked, at least I did win the biggest pot of the session and finished up about 100M on my last buy-in
I am really proud of my line there, particularly the micro donkbet to induce on the river.
Hey, according to Replay that’s the 2nd biggest pot I’ve ever won on the site. Neat!
Thank you @Lelaina and @_Rain for railing some of my sessions; seeing you guys there motivates me to keep playing my A-game even when the deals don’t go my way <3
I was down 250M in 2 hours before that last buy-in; really had to “trust the process” if you know what I mean! Shewwwww!
So far I have faced an all-in on the river for 40bb or more on perhaps 12 occasions. I think Villain has shown up with a hand other than the stone cold nuts maybe 2 of those times.
Don’t call huge river all-ins without the literal nuts! It ain’t worth it!
Several sessions winning between 2x and 4x buy-ins at 100/200k and 250/500k.
Feels like you kinda gotta earn your respect with these Elite Stakes guys. Now that I’ve posted a few winning sessions and gotten called with a strong hand several times, my bluffs are getting through more often. This in turn gives me more confidence to keep taking spots when I see them.
At the same time, I’m learning who likes to exploit/who will call down with A high and being more judicious with my thin value bets and bluffs as I continue to adjust to the field. Some spots where GTO says you have to bluff, I have started passing on sometimes as I feel confident Villain is ready to call anyway.
Couple really big laydowns in spots where I just don’t think Villain is bluffing, and despite being near top of range, my hand doesn’t beat any thick value. Not sure if they’re all correct folds but the bankroll is trending upwards, so I’ll take it!
November 10, 9:26pm PT. Sitting 7-handed at 100/200k, @MansoorH isn’t around, I’ve got 87M in front of me with more than double anyone else, and for the first time in a while I feel like I’m the best player at the table.
