Code of Conduct, discussion

If they make tables with longer timer’s then they should make speed table’s also, for those who don’t want to fall asleep while waiting for someone to check or fold a hand. I see more people complain about timer’s being too long more than not being too short. If their going to accommodate the slow player then they need then accommodate the fast player also.

I think the timer’s are perfect the way they are. If you want a slow timer go to a game where they use a slow timer and if you want a fast timer go to a game with a fast timer. Don’t go the other way and complain about it. As you can see some players like fast and some like slow. To make all happy is a tough chore. Good luck to everyone.

Can you break down for the players please which tables are slow and which ones are fast timers.

That’s a good question. There is no list of slow tables at bye-ins or fast tables at bye-in so the only way would be hit and miss by trying out each tournament then recording witch ones you would like to play by the amount of bye-in or the timer. I don’t know if its already in the mix to Staff to put the time the timers have in each lobby page for each tournament or table. I think it’s a good idea.

at the left of each game in the lobby there is a lightning bolt … if it is white , it is fast speed. Not sure if this was what you were looking for , but might be good info for other players.

That is so true, so we call that poker. From when poker was born to now that has always been a strategy of poker player’s to use to thro off other player’s so they mite make a mistake and give them an advantage. Of course I don’t encourage the slow play but I can see its uses.

How about just providing a variety of levels, fast and slow clock tables, giving players their choice based on their ability or the ability of their connections. Maybe have some super fast tables with 8-10 second clocks, and some with 20. And if it would help attract more customers, have some 30 or 60 second clocks too. (Whatever helps keep the site ad free, I am all in for)

I’d be willing to bet the 30 and 60 second clock tables would mostly sit idle, but its good to provide for all.

I think you would see an increase in Hi/Lo Omaha tournaments with a slower clock. But don’t think they would be of any benefit in rng games.

I think for Omaha Hi / Lo its nessery have longer kloc as we have a lot of cards.

This sounds like the Bingo player’s argument. We all have to live with them so deal w/ the slow players too. It’s just another strategy.

Marklou,

  1. this topic is about the CoC
  2. I ask’d ppl to move this to my other thread, I even bumped it and noone commented.
  3. both in that topic and another one months earlier I showed valid reasons to use the clock.
  4. there are " invalid " reasons too, don’t confuse the two…

Lets Talk MTT Timers, those who steer’d this thread to the timers go read the whole post and replies… and lets either let this thread die or get back to the CoC discussion… please ??

In a society that prides itself in being free and able to do whatever you like in a lawful manner, it will be impossible to keep undesireables away from the tables. Its usually played live in a 21+ atmosphere and everyone knows to expect the unexpected. There are plenty of other issues the site should worry about rather than this code of conduct issue. Ive been here for about a year and have only been offended like twice, neither were directed at me but I vehemently defended the persons that were attacked and also reported them. Replay can only really make strong suggestions that we all act right but its simply unenforceable. I also dont especially wanna play poker like I would have to if my mother or grandmother were at the table. Just my two cents and an attempt to get back on topic.

Greetings Mark & My Replay Family,
You’re quite right Mark about it being a strategy perhaps for centuries. This ploy as well as many others were practised & practised until their skills and timing were honed to precise perfection. The only difference was the level of finesse over the centuries. When you needed to slow a game or one of the other many ploys for one reason or another, you did so with finesse so that no one noticed or didn’t suspect it to be on purpose. Poker really was thought to be a gentlemen’s game of honor when it hit the shores of America early on…
Then recently in the last couple of decades, poker has exploded like nothing else has in the history of gambling. All because of the internet. Once they finally figured out how to simply play the game without having to study “Commodore BASIC”. It’s changed the whole poker world forever.
Some feel it’s for the good, some say it’s for the worse. I believe the jury is still out on the whole thing, still very early since it’s birth ( Wow, when I just said that, “it’s birth”, to myself, the whole movie "Alien " jetted through my feeble mind.) I hope you young kids don’t ruin Grandpa’s internet & poker games…
My bottom line is, I prefer to see myself as a kindly old gentleman riverboat gambler with an eye that can find a person’s heart and their good side all at the same time…:sunglasses:
