Yes, it can.
This week I entered Event #4 “Omaha H/L” Limit tournament at the WSOP on May 29, 2024.
I believe that watching Daniel Negreanu’s youTube video on Omaha High/Low and playing the Omaha H/L tournaments at Replay Poker have improved my game.
Since joining the site in January of 2021, I have had multiple games with great and “not so great” players.
I mark my players here, and although many do not get positive rankings from me, some do. And, when I play those players just like in cash games or at the WSOP, you can figure out the ones that may know what they are doing and those that play this game as if it were Holdem or Omaha…
And, while you cannot grab the “tells” at an online game due to time limits and people acting as though their internet is messed up, and people that undermine the game due to “free” chips, you can determine to a certain degree what it is that they are playing.
Now, I say this with multiple table tournaments where you cannot rebuy and there are guarantees of the top finishers, similar to a WSOP tournament.
Some of you will tell me that I need to get some kind of treatment as there is no way that this type of poker is indicative of any positive outcome in the real “cash” game.
But, I disagree. And proof is in the pudding.
I finished in position 87 of 928 people, in the money.
So, I thank all of you: Replay Poker, wonderful Omaha H/L players, “not so wonderful” players (you know who you are).

It is being held at the Horseshoe and Paris hotels, that are now conveniently located next to each other… I can remember years ago when the Horseshoe was in downtown Las Vegas…
Playing in the WSOP in Las Vegas was always on my bucket list, but, too many things seemed to get in the way…
And, then earlier this year, I decided I’m going to do it…
There are many different entry fees and games that you can choose from, whether you do it this year or whenever, I recommend it…

@planopete Congrats on your in the money finish in the WSOP, I have played you many times here in the Omaha Hi/Lo MTTs, you are on my list of top finishers, with fill, Gambler7777 and few other top players, I respect your play immensely, I could not agree with you more, honing your skills here and consistently ranking high will defiantly improve your skillset no matter where you play.
Not many know what your avatar is, but being an Alien fan, I knew right away the intent, when I was a younger man, I went to see the first Alien movie in the theater, it was the first movie in my life that actually made me jump, a physical reaction to a movie I have not had since that day. Fantastic film for its time, Giger’s art is some of the best ever.

By the way, I played with one of the Mizraki brothers in my second to last table…
what was weird, is that the WSOP team was taking notes on “key” players left in the tournament… I knocked out one of their “key” players and they wanted to know who knocked them out…

I recommend it to anyone that has thought about entering the WSOP. Until you go there, you have no idea about the experience you are going to get.
I’ve been in other tournaments, non has compared to this one…

I can tell you that the competition was very stiff once we got into the money…
The two Mizraki brothers finished a little in front of me…
but, all in all, I was very pleased with my performance…
and, Replay Poker contributed significantly to my success…

just to chime in again. I just made a post about my plan to win 1B chips on Replay, and I mentioned how I’ve learned that solid poker fundamentals is still the path to success, in “real life” or on Replay. I’m very encouraged to hear you saying the same thing, as someone who’s had a bigger “irl” success than I ever have!
Dealing with all the randomness that comes with seeing thousands of online hands is surely good practice, if you take it as an opportunity to learn and improve… of course, you could also whine about bad beats and never get better… that’s an option too!

“Cash” or “real” tournament games and Replay Poker can be learning experiences!!!
I do believe that things are relative… as long as you have the bankroll to compete on the appropriate playing field, good things can happen by following “solid poker fundamentals”…
