The iconic actor, Sean Connery has passed away at age 90. I’ll miss him.–Alan25main
The Scottish actor was best known for his portrayal of James Bond, being the first to bring the role to the big screen and appearing in seven of the spy thrillers.
Sir Sean died peacefully in his sleep in the Bahamas, having been “unwell for some time”, his son said.
His acting career spanned five decades and he won an Oscar in 1988 for his role in The Untouchables.
Sir Sean’s other films included The Hunt for Red October, Highlander, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and The Rock.
So sad to hear. An iconic actor. Never afraid to speak his mind, no matter how it may seem to others. I loved that quality in him. So many amazing movies beyond James Bond. Name of the Rose was one of my favorites. May he rest in peace.
Name of the Rose, indeed! Connery brought William of Occam to life in that. I first remember him from Disney’s Darby O’Gill and the Little People. I’m pretty sure he sang in that one. My favorite film of his was The Wind and the Lion (unfortunately, the plot of the movie bore no resemblance to the actual events, alas.) “Perdicaris alive, or Raisuli dead!” shouted Teddy Roosevelt is a line that will live forever.
There were no other James Bonds. The others were just pretending to be Sean Connery, Icon has become such an overused phrase, and knighthoods often seem like photo-ops, but this man was the real deal in every way. One of our stupidest questions used to be, “Who would you rather sit down and have a beer with?” in all Presidential elections. Used to be. No Presidential candidate in the last 50 years has even come close to the number of men and women who would rather sit down and toast one with the real James Bond.

I can only name three Scots, which really impressed me: William Wallace, Montgomery Scott and of course Sir Sean Connery, which has been a truly remarkable part of my cinematic life. Most of the movies he took part in were only uplifted by his presence.
Just remember that “you only live twice”. I will miss You, Sean.
