Advancing to Gold level drove me all last quarter - I really really tried…and made it by the skin of my teeth. But all thru that quarter Barry and I traded notes/thoughts/encouragement. He is a GREAT GUY who more often beat himself at the tables, then beat himself up afterwards. Clearly, he has turned the corner.
Me, I’m no great player. I love the banter and the strategy and the game, but lets be real - the prize here isn’t the chips that can only be cashed in your fantasy bank. No the prize is playing with people you enjoy spending time with, forming friendships, and making something out of a year that has challenged us all with heartbreak. And I’m not talking about having your pocket Aces cracked.
I am a Golden Donk now. I play tourneys and look at the players entered and say, ‘wow, there’s 50 people here and 47 are better than me.’ And you know what? I don’t care. The Joy is in the doing, the playing, and yes, the improving. Yes, I take it seriously and want to beat you all and win chips. But being part of this community is why I’m here.
So I root players like Barry and Ale and Josie on. Because sometimes they need encouragement. But mostly because they’re good people who make the league a better place to play.
Thanks to all of you who have been here far longer than I who have laid the foundation. It really is a special place. Too nice sometimes, but special nonetheless.

I’d like to wish all of the Yankee Donks and your loved ones a happy Thanksgiving. And for you non-Yankee Donks, you need to get some Pilgrims in your history and join in the festivities on this special day.
Regardless, I am thankful for all of you. The Donks League would not be the same without every single one of you…even Saratogatom.
Me prone to exaggeration? As I always tell my wife “Now now darling, I’ve told you at least a million times not to exaggerate” …
Ultimately, Barry, you just confirmed what I said - in other words, with your unique style and class.
Nothing can explain Barry’s unique, understated class than his reactions after he wins a Donk tourney. Whenever I won one - it hasn’t happened that often but it’s happened - I would be soooo excited that my immediate instinct would be to share it with all my friends. So I’d write to Tom, to John, to Rick, to Jack a loud PM titled "GUESS WHAT? followed by a concise but bold message saying “I WOOOOOON!!!”.
When Barry wins a Tourney he’s obviously just as excited and can’t wait to share with his friends, he will reach out to me but he’s too discreet to show off the fact he’s won, so he’ll ask me if as an Italian I would recommend watching a certain movie featuring Sofia Loren. But it’s the same, the moment I receive that message I immediately know he’s won. That’s what friends are for.
If I can get some of those players who advanced from silver to gold with me, I would be very happy to join this league. Let me see if those in my class want to join the fun. If any of you see this message and are interested, shoot me a message!
Well, I really hate to break up this lovefest, but it’s that time I give my take on this month. WOW!!! What a month!!!. So many awards given out to such tremendous people. Suzanne{sugarblossom} won the All-In in style, Awesome job by a remarkable lady. Many Donks in both sliver and gold won to have their own tourney named after them. CONGRATS. And finally, the award I feel is THE most prestigious anyone in Donks could get…the Participation award given to Jack{boyd2}. Think about this, one whole year without missing a tourney. Unbelievable accomplishment and one that may never be duplicated. Congratulations my friend.
Team Donk continues to dominate, but Lyle, TPP has one unbelievable team, whom I’m friends with all. I’ll say it again, team poker is THE BEST all-round poker you can play, fun, competitive and Captained by 3 people I have such respect for…Lyle{flashlight}, Priscilla{MCcats} and Jack.
Now I have a reason for these accolades. NEW members, listen up, all these awards and more can be yours. I’m sure you all came into this league with eyes wide open and many of you found that this poker REALLY is elite. My message to you, don’t ever get discouraged or overwhelmed. It takes time to adjust, believe me I know what I’m talking about. So if any of you feel this way, friend me, I’d be more than happy to help with advice, encouragement or to just listen to your thoughts. I mean every word of that, this is a family and/or community is so much more than just poker. When we have people like Tom{SaratogaTom}, Ale{Sergente21} and ahured who go out of their way to make everyone they come in contact with feel comfortable and pressure free. They GET it. Friend them, you won’t be sorry.
And finally, I want to give a huge shout out to a player that really has upped his game to the point of being dominate…Barry{Husky}. Barry, I’ve had the pleasure to talk with you a lot lately, and to see your play this month, all I can say is WOW.
Lastly, a huge thank you to B. Your tireless work is greatly appreciated by us all. And Pug, we wouldn’t have what we have without you. Thank you both

Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving (whether or not you’re somewhere it is observed, I hope it was happy!). ChicagoSerbs can be thankful that he won the Thursday tournament over last week’s Thursday winner Grizy-, helping Two Mares and an Old Donk as they chase the first place Barnyard Tramps.
And I think everyone in this league can be very thankful for the work put in by Friday’s victor, MCCats, who has put in so much work and care to get this league up and running and finally got her first tournament victory for the Mighty Scratchy Cats.
Would you like to form a small team and learn the great art (not to mention fun) of playing real team poker, then form a team and join the International Team Cup League. It’s a 3 v 3 Competition played once every week.

Like all people (like me and you) who are at the tables quite often, I’m sure you’re sometimes frustrated by the excess of “bingo-ing” even at high buy-in tourneys. The whole point of this League is to put together some of the best players on this platform to actually play poker.
