Donks, our league leaderboard maintainer puggywug has announced an Open Heads Up NLHE Tournament, which he is organizing. This is outside of our regular league play, but all are welcome and encouraged to partake. Registration for the inaugural tournament is open now through Sept 11, 2020.
Hello all. This is the time that I give you MY opinion and thoughts on the pulse of the Donks. I’d like to touch on a few things so bear with me. First, I’d like to recognize the silvers. That tier right now, from top to bottom, is awesome. Your showing in the All in tourneys was outright fantastic. An example, in the second tourney I was on the final table with FatNSassy as the ONLY 2 golds against 7 silvers. I had never had the pleasure to play against most of them, Snake57, PRIMETIME and PBK. I had played against Saratogatom. My hat goes off to all of you. The silver tier, right now, is every bit as good as the gold. Beware fellow golds, the influx of new golds is going to raise our play very much. Or get run over. Thank you chuckcox and others for bringing such talent and great people. The reason I bring this up is quite simple. Expansion? At first I was a advocate of it as Badonk well knows. Now? NO. With the new leagues like Pugs Heads Up, the All in tourneys and mine and Priscillas Barnyard Muckers there are so many different formats to chose from. I have always shouted about participation, but the All In shut me up{for a little while}. The turn out was spectacular. Our members have my total respect and appreciation for this. Usually growth means expansion, but not with this league. Badonks All in showed me that it’s not needed now or the foreseeable future. Hope you are listening B. Some very insightful people have come up with offshoots to satisfy everyone, so take advantage and participate in one or all, you just might be pleasantly surprised.
Lastly, I want to recognize a few people that need to be. Grizy, who perhaps played the BEST 3 All In tourneys. If she and I were reversed then Grizy or travisvictor would be champ. And a big CONGRATS to you travisvictor on an awesome result. ChicagoSerbs{Michael} who messaged me to see if if I was OK because I hadn’t played in 2 straight tourneys. I had lost power for 3 days or so but he wanted to be sure I was all right. Michael, you’re a true friend and I thank you. Dorkupine, who out of the blue volunteered to do our spread sheets for the Barnyard Muckers. I hope you know how much Priscilla and I appreciate all your work. THANK YOU. And I always end my “report” with a huge thank you to Badonk and his staff. You are truly THE MAN and I appreciate your countless hours you and Pug put in to make this league the truly ELITE league it is. And Tom, this isn’t a lovefest. Thank you, our members, for making this a pretty damn good month. Good luck at the tables and above all, have fun
A definite “second” to 12beat’s thank you, Dorkupine. The way you have designed the scoresheets for what was initially a bit of a complex concept is just terrific. We are very, very appreciative.
And, speaking of scoring - note fellow Donks and TPP League members - that one first-place finish with its plus 5 bonus by any team member in any of the three games can put you right back in the running. So it is not too late to form a team! If you want to join a team let me or John (12beat22) know and we will help get you connected. Or invite some of your own crazy friends. (Not implying you, yourself, are crazy…) Congrats to Livin’ on a Pair (SarahFra, snowman, LadyCon) for the win of the week and Pigs in Muck (Rosie2_SM, Bash51, mysweet-SM) for a close 2nd!
This is just my opinion. I think that our leagues are not yet at a size where we need to consider an expansion to a third tier.
We are also considering methods of keeping tournaments to about 2-2.5 hours in length with larger fields, and will be performing some experiments in the near future with tweaks to our tournament format in the Wednesday 3PM games to see how they work.
What I saw in our Bye Week tournament was that with reduced starting chip stacks to the standard 3k size, we ran 2h34m for 60 players in the first game, 2h18m for 69 players in the second game, and 2h24m for 58 players in the 3rd game. This suggests that a key to managing tournament duration is the initial stack sizing. We want to make sure that the games aren’t just running the right length of time, but have other markers of a high quality game that players are enjoying, of course.
I do like to see our league’s membership representing us well in extra-curricular tournaments and promotions, as well. I hope that we’ll see some of our players sign up for Puggywug’s Heads Up NLHE Open tournament. Registration is open now through Friday, 9/11/2020, so please contact me to sign up if you’re interested in playing!

I had a fantastic game right up until the final table, entering with 2nd stack, close to #1, and ended up min-cashing, out 7th. No small stack busted after the first two players at the final table went out, until me, despite numerous forced-all-in hands and plenty of shoving going on. I even got to double up with J7s flopping a called-shot flush on my 2nd to last hand after getting clobbered when I decided to shove KQo for 3BB after a long drought that had bled me from 44k down to about half that, and got called by KK. By all rights I should have expected at least 1-2 of those small stack all-in hands to produce a bust, which would have put me at a 4-5th place that I could sulk and moan about more happily for the poor showing after rolling into the final table in style. Of course as soon as I’m out, everyone else busted right quick and if I just had the dang sense to fold KQo preflop like you’re supposed to, I’d probably have finished at least 4th. puppy whine
COME ONE COME ALL ! Golden Donks ,that is. on 8/26/20 To the BRICK52 Open .I took the title(of the tourny) from the Black Widow ,now come and try to take it from me ! Get a tourny named for yourself ! By the way if I cant repeat how long can ikeep the medallion?

Was easily 45 minutes with the final five, all played really smart solid poker. Barredapollo a deserving winner, but no one deserved to lose. Really well played.
Our first Donk foal will be born to SarahFra on September 2nd! The vet is standing by. Sarah is not disclosing the name of which barnyard stallion might be involved. (It is possible she conceived elsewhere.) All Donks are hereby invited to submit names for the foal for consideration. The decision by Sarah will be final. She may not use one of the suggested names but she will choose a “best effort” and award “braying rights” (and snowman might even design a shirt??!!).
