100k CONTEST POLL - Have you played live poker?

I love playing poker with real people, but live in a rural area where live games are too far away.
Thank You Replay for letting me play, at home, whenever I have time!!! And the cost is so much less!!!

I guess the question could go farther and ask if a person has played live poker for money.
then ask for low stakes or high stakes.

I like on-line poker at this time. Thank you !

Play in low stakes home game every two weeks. Great fun. Last week player was dealt royal flush on first 5 cards with nothing wild. Crazy.

I love playing with friends, I worked to hard to be gambling with my retirement so I stick to online mostly.

I don’t play live as much as I used to. Not because I don’t like to, its more of a matter of convenience. The one thing I do prefer is the tense nervousness that comes with playing live.

 Hi Fizzymint and all.

I played for about a year live.

Pros…I liked the social side being around people.
Learning a new game was good.
At times won which was an achievement & a bit of cash.
For a few wks was leading in the state I live.
Being out amongst it was good & needed at the time.

Cons…Most people were good but there was some bullying.
Some games are a bit too costly to play.
Where I use to play moved to another area meaning a bit of travel which doesn’t really appeal.
Opposed to online with the comfort of home you can’t just come and go apart from sitting out for short intervals.

I do play live once a week, our Community clubhouse has a poker night on Monday during the Snowbird season. Everyone puts in $10 and we get 9000 chips to play over 2 hours with progressive antis every 30 min. I like the comradery and live-action. But I can spend more time and learn more here due the the various games and tournaments, plus meet people from around the world, Great site.

ja habe …meist mit Freunden …aber auch schon in Casino
Translation
yes I have…mostly with friends…but also in casinos

I cannot win with play chips so no chance I would play in live games!!!

Very wise young man

I used to love playing live poker but Australia is strict on the sites we are allowed to play on and my favourite site is no longer available, bit of a bummer.

I tried live poker but I have a terrible poker face! lol This is better.

Table poker is real and very different to this online playing.

Not for me, I think that a player needs to have nerves of steel, to be able to play in casinos. I admire the poker pros, they have something very special in order to make a living playing poker.

I think it’s funny that people who have and do play live, are less likely to complain about all the bad beats.
Bad beats are real and happen (almost) as often in live poker. On the other hand we usually play a LOT more hands on-line. So with more hands, you would and should, expect to see more.
See you at the tables. I wish you great cards.

I would rather play online at my age of 71. If I was at the live tables they could read my ā€œtellsā€. Online I love to check + raise when I have the ā€œNUTTSā€. I have not played live TX. Holdem in 10 years. I’ve been playing online since 2003.

A few times a year in Carson City. Used to play in South Lake Tahoe but they don’t do tournaments any more and the cash games are too wild. Carson Valley Inn has nice people, good dealers, and a homey atmosphere. And tournaments!

The only way to have a chance of an honest game is to play in a reputable, well managed, public card room, and you still have to be careful and observant and don’t put blind trust in the fairness of the game, ever.

The house doesn’t work for free. They either rake the pot, which is favorable to losing players over winning players; or the players pay a fixed ā€œtime rakeā€ every dealer change, which is favorable to the winners in $'s they get too keep more of their Dinero in their pockets. Time rake leads to faster play, at least that is the common thought. Either way, thats about $150/hr , give or take, getting siphoned off the table and sent down the hole by the dealer and into that Bob that security empties every 4 hours. In my experience it impossible for almost all players to stay ahead of the rake for the long haul, in low stakes games. (anything under maybe 10-20 or 20-40). I really like live poker, but its not a good use of cash for me)

If I start live play again it will probably be tournament play. It has the same built in problem with the tournament fee, but it is a faster game that forces players to generally play more aggressively. The pace suits me better.

I like to play low stakes tournaments live. I have never played at a live table with a dealer and I can’t wait! I don’t like having to deal and figure out splitting the pot at tournaments. I think I like them equally right now but I believe sitting at a live table WITH a dealer will be my ultimate fun time playing poker.
