100k CONTEST POLL - Have you played live poker?

New month, new contest! :money_mouth_face:

One of things I enjoy reading in our forum is tales and memories from poker room experiences. Both @aceto5 and the late, great Alan25main have regaled us with fascinating stories! So, I’m curious as to how many of you have spent time at live poker tables. Is this common among our players, or do most of you like playing poker here without the risk?

Please vote in our poll below, and you’ll be entered to win 100,000 chips! Reply to the thread for an extra chance to vote, letting us know why you enjoy(ed) live poker, or why you choose to sit it out.

Have you ever played live poker?
  • Yes, and I still do
  • Yes, but not anymore

Never played live poker at a casino or card room. Just a few drunk games at someone’s house for fun.

They both have their advantages. Reading is easier live (usually) and it’s more fun to be social in person. But I can play here any time I want and don’t have to stop what I am doing. It’s all fun

We used to have parties at my Uncle’s house once a month with around 15 to 20 people. Put in around $20 a person and paid top three. Was always a fun time. Only live poker I ever played besides online. I’m not a casino person at all not even slots.

I’ve only played many years ago with friends, but I don’t think that was the question. As for “real” poker in a casino, access and money to lose are the reasons I have not.

There was none offered close enough and i like the online Version. Although i am thinking of getting out to a live event this year or next at the latest.

Played MANY years of live poker–7 stud and 7 stud hi/low bought my modest home—still enjoy a little hold-em in the casinos as you can read players much better in person.

Back home in Wales, I started playing when I was 14. I had moved in with a musician, and he and his band mates had a regular game. The longest game went 8 days!!! Ah… to be young again. 61 years later, and mostly living in the states now, we only get to play when musicians come to record at our home. In all that time, I was the only girl to play.

Yes, a group of friends and acquittances would hold regular Texas Hold’em games and I’d attend, get wiped out pretty quickly, and drink beer. Fun, but not very profitable!

25 years or so ago, whenever I stayed over in London for work, I used to play a £20 rebuy tournament in the basement of a hotel. No idea of its name. Usually 70/80 runners … and I never cashed :slightly_frowning_face:

One of the guys who appeared on the first tv series of Late Night Poker used to play.

I don’t play live because I’ve never tried and I think I won’t be able to hide my emotions well when I have a good hand.

Never played poker at a Casino as there is generally only one in each capital city in Aus which are at least 1000km’s (600 miles) from each other and all on the coast, long way from inland
