In MTTs, depending on the league, you accumulate tournament point over a week or month. Gemstone League have both a first 7 games played in a week and a Best seven games in a week, Regional MTT leagues every game you play (2 a day) are added together for a month, and Leaderboarder take your top 20 games of the month/ 120 for the year in Royal, Omaha, and Omaha HiLo and top 30 month/ 180 year for hold’em in (low medium and high stakes). Tournament points are also used in the toplists Weekly, monthly, and Yearly rankings. You win by getting the most points 
For MTTs Tournament points are calculated with the formula below:
(1,000 × (√Runners)/√(Finishing Position))×(1+log(Buy-in))
For example, if a player enters a tournament featuring a buy-in of 2,000 chips and finishes 6th out of 200 runners, the player will receive 24,884 points.
