Tournament points thought up the devil personally, they will come to you in a dream, and also will torture you in daytime :))
How Tournament Points are calculated
It’s really all calculated by a simple formula of:
(1000*(Math.sqrt(n)/Math.sqrt(k))*(1.01+Math.log10(b))).ceil
Where n=number of participants, k=position in tournament, and b=amount of buy in.
That may be confusing, so let us try to explain it a bit simpler. Say you placed 1st in a 10 person tournament with a 10000 buy in. If you plug that into the formula it would look like this: (1000*(Math.sqrt(10)/Math.sqrt(1))(1.01+Math.log10(10000))).ceil . If you take the time to figure it out, you’ll see that you would receive 15844 points. If you placed 5th in the exact same tournament, you just swap the 1 for a 5, and evaluate. The formula would look like this: 1000(Math.sqrt(10)/Math.sqrt(5))*(1.01+Math.log10(10000))).ceil , and if you decided work through the formula, you would see that you would earn 7086 points.
Please note that we only sum your top 10 multi table tournaments per week, 20 per month, and 100 per year.

Thanks for your reply beautiful, I’ve been doing few of my own calculations to see how many points you would get if you came 1st in a 10 person tournament but the buy in was 100000. To see how it would compare to the 10000 tournament.

Tournament points are currently only used as a measuring tool to rank yourself against other members of the site. You can see the top-lists for them here: http://www.replaypoker.com/toplists/mtt
While we hope to one day use them for something else as well, currently this is the only purpose they serve.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Tourney Points. Used for what?. I’ve played in 2 multi-table tournaments. The first one, I was the winner. I got 250,000 chips and over 4000 Tourney points. The second, which I just came in at 14(No chips for this one), I also got over 4000 Tourney points. What exactly are these Tourney points used for? I haven’t seen anything on the Home page or Poker Lobby about these. Please fill me in if you would. Thanks.

As the tour points formula need to be “buy-in” … freeroll is zero buy-in, aka the freeroll tourpoints is zero. Cant say “excluded” , but as all freeroll points equall to zero, then nothing could be added to the tourpoints…
The won tournaments points from Freerolls are excluded for the leaderboards. You find the info on the promotion page… http://www.replaypoker.com/promotions/monthly-mtt-leaderboard-low
