I was blown away with this powerful version of “The Sound of Silence” by Disturbed.

Sometimes, the “original performer” isn’t the one who scored big with a song.
The top version is Norah Jones singing in 2017.
Second, is the singer who made the song iconic in 1962, Patsy Cline.
Finally, the singer who wrote it and first recorded it in 1961 and currently looks nothing like his 1961 self, Willie Nelson
I was amazed at Christmas by how many people thought Mariah Carey was the original of All I want for Christmas is You. predated her by at least 10 years.
don,t forget “the sound of silence” redone by DISTURBED!..awesome!
Actually this song was wtitten and recorded first in 1913 by Dick Burnett. It has been a hit many times by about 55 different artists. Jerry Garcia did it. The Stanley Brothers did it very well. Sharon Sanon. One of my favorites versions was done by 15 year old Sawyer Fredreicks for his blind audition on the voice about 5-6 years ago…The Voice 2015 Blind Audition Sawyer Fredericks I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow - YouTube
Hey, Sarah, while I’ve never listened to Peter Schillings’ complete album, there is a song titled Major Tom Revisited, and is completely different. More of a sequel, or continuation of that great song. And if I remember correctly, was brought about by the general public wanting to know what happens to Major Tom, something that David Bowie was always ambiguous about.
It didn’t feel right when I saw the Bob was the original (via youtube) on this page

but thank you, I like Dick’s better than Bob"s anyway, & yes Sawyer Rocked it on the voice…

I’m sure we all know and love William Shatner’s “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds”…
