The Easiest Tournament Hack

Bet often. Give up often. That’s it.

  1. Usually, you won’t have it, but they won’t either.
Way more often than you think, if you bet, they will just fold.

  2. Players don’t continue nearly as much as they should with unmade or weak-made hands, so if you face resistance, just give up, unless you have a big draw.

Not only will 1) happen more often than 2), but we win more in 1) than we lose in 2). This is why players who simply bet a lot often do pretty well in Replay MTTs, even if their strategy is not fundamentally sound.

The reason most of those players aren’t lighting up the leaderboards is because they fail to “switch gears.” They build a stack with aggression, then run into a few big hands later in the tournament when SPR is low and mistakes are more impactful. Next thing you know, they have busted, after being runaway chip leader for most of the tournament.

Just avoid that mistake, and you too can feel the power of the dark side! Bet often! Bet all the freaking time! Bet when it feels just plain stupid to bet.

When they raise, fold. When they call, stop bluffing. Meanwhile, sit back and enjoy seeing just how often they all fold instead.
