"Sitting Out" latency

If I am “sitting out” and I click “I’m back” just as the action reaches me, my hand un-greys-out for a moment and appears live, but then I am folded anyway.

My interpretation of this is that my hand was never live—I didn’t click “I’m back” BEFORE action reached me, so the software killed my hand. That’s fair.

But it’s confusing and frustrating to the user to have the graphics suggest that my hand is live, when in fact it never was.

So, my suggestion is to fix the latency with the graphics here as it seems to lag behind the actual “is this player in or out” marker that the software is using to determine whether I get to take an action or not.

It’s probably a client/server delay, and I don’t think there’s a good solution.
The client running on your machine recognizes that you’ve hit the button and will un-grey, but by the time that information gets to the server, you’ve already missed your turn (the server can be further ahead in the action than it looks too, because other players actions also take some time to be displayed on your client).
It’s a hard problem to solve, because if the client doesn’t un-grey then it looks like it has frozen and isn’t recognizing your input (which also might lead you to clicking I’m back again and un-selecting it).

Yeah, fair enough. Chalk it up to mountain livin’ and move on!

Happens often in stud if you miss a few hands and may have to F5 refresh or sometimes, get out /back in. I have no idea but, hope with the new URL coming we will have more dependable servers.

That would be a welcome improvement, for sure!

Right now only hopeium lol & cant do anything about my ISP :frowning:

The thing is, your not directly connect to replaypoker.com, and won’t be directly connected to casino.org either. I’m going through 8 hops to get to both, and there could be delays at any point. Some of the bigger issues, like getting disconnected and lobbies not refreshing will likely be with Replays servers and might improve, but a delay between the client and server is unavoidable.

“The PTA has disbanded?!?”

TDA rule clearly indicates that if you are not seated by second hole card is given to every player on the table, it is fold. It varies from tournament to tournament, but it is fair to say if you not seating when your hand are dealt, it is clear indication. Here in Replay Poker, they set to rule that you can sit back up to the point where your hands needs to be played. I think this is bit unfair for other people and yet it makes sense to a point where people are at their own environments and some might just get in time to play.
In terms of lagging, there is nothing much you can do. So, like you said, if you are not there, you are not playing no matter. I think that would be most fair decision.

I agree. It’s just frustrating when the graphics don’t line up with the action, but I understand there’s nothing to be done about it.
