Resolving the issue of SnG promo fairness debate

There has been a lot of discussion recently, about how players can’t make SnG Promo leaderboards as they have only a short amount of available time to play.

Thanks Replay, for not only monitoring the Forum well but also creating an immediate solution.

Could the same format be coming soon for Ring Game Promos?

Looking foward to:

Seems to me that a 3 Max Sit and Go Format is extremely susceptible to collusion and cheating, which kinda of trumps the whole “farness discussion”. A 6 max or 9 max format would be alot better.

I haven’t played the 3 Max format, but I can assure you the Replay Security & Collusion Team would monitor if warranted.

I also believe every member would report any suspicion of any collusion/ cheating, to be investigated.

That said, I would also prefer the 6 Max format, however the idea is probably to get more games completed for points.

Referenced from site rules:

Collusion Violations

We do not tolerate any form of collusion. Our Security & Collusion Team actively monitors the site for collusion. When collusion is identified, the Team assesses the severity of the violation. Depending on circumstances, a penalty is imposed – ranging from a warning to a temporary suspension or even permanent ban – for all accounts and account owners involved. Chips related to any collusion violations are subject to confiscation by Replay Poker.

Hi, really pleased this prompted some discussion.

One of the reasons we have not really pushed promotions onto 3 max is the suspicion / expectation they would be liable to collusion. Thanks @Litenin for the shout out and the confidence. :).

Another is that they are enormously popular anyway. Players can register and get playing very quickly, especially popular amongst new players.

There should be nowhere to hide in a 3 max Leaderboard. If someone wins a massive percentage, it is going to be pretty obvious. I am looking forward to running this to see how it pans out.

  • The idea is that there is a manageable window of play for anyone to have a go.
  • It is unlimited play for this first run, but we can do Best or First games in any future iterations, depending on what the volume turns out to be.
  • The window can also be shorter or longer if / when we run this again.
  • Leaderboards being paid at the end of each day gives us the chance to keep an eye on the possibility of shenanigans, before they pay out, but I am pretty sure thats not going to be a big problem.

Rob

If this Promo meets or hopefully exceeds expectations, is it possible to duplicate for a ring game Promo? Perhaps place a pop up of start & stop times in the missions area for eligible games.

Chance to bump this thread and give the current January Sprint games another mention.

@Litenin
Having ring tables with start and end times is something we are looking at and will want to implement if the SnG promotion works out.

Does anyone have any feedback so far?

There are a nucleus of players who are playing Daily (I know its only Day 4), but we are in Sprint 14 of 28. This is encouraging to see. Perhaps higher stakes than 20K would be more attractive.

Review:
The Leaderboards on the first Sprint of the day starts too late, sometimes after end of the Sprint. Link not active. I like more to open it before the start. The SNG Lobby has update problems and shows many times not all open SNGs (the old 1000 things on the Lobby). Many refreshs needed.
The “working peoples” are there not to see. Can be they have to start playing before coming home or after midnight.
How to come to top of Leaderboard:
Play 2 – 3 SNGs at same time (Heads Up, wow). Play Bingo. Go on all hands Preflop all in, until you win very fast or you are fast out of the SNG. Many times is game over after the first hand of the SNG. Sprint. Fast points on Leaderboard. Play 70 such SNGs in the 4 hours.

I saw the same playing end of last year, I think it was on Halloween Harvest SNG. Top on Leaderboard, but bankroll near 0 on end of day. Or stop on mid of day because Bankroll = 0. Big winners.

Sometimes is the playing much easier:

2

I played there not so many, and in moment I have enough of this playing.

I think on short time Ring Promo playing is the winner the lucky Bingo. Not to beat what they can win. Good playing helps there not.

I believe you have the perfect format with the 4 hr sprints, both for those who can’t play all day & those who can.

I am curious to hear what the players that play normaly 16-20 hrs for LB chips think. I would think it is much better for those as they get a break between next time slot and can still win all.

Also thanks for considering same format for ring promo’s and look forward to more input on stakes buy in.

Hi @Poki65 agree on most points,

It is still possible to binge play these and climb the LB. As you say, it does not always reward with an increase in chip balance.

Almost certainly this promotion will happen again, probably in March.

  • There will be a restriction on the LB points.
  • The buy in will be higher, to make the actual events more profitable for the better players
  • The scoring could be the same as Monthly MTT LB where the average score of all games is calculated and the threshold will likely be 20.

I ran an average LB on yesterdays 4-3 Sprint

Actual

Average applied

Billcanada played exactly 20, PlayforfunV 21 and one1one significantly more. Obviouly those playing 15 and 16 could realistically move up into top 3 if they complete the full 20, or more.

I like this system because 20 is not an excessive number, even at one at a time. Once a player nears 20 they can adjust their play style if their average needs to dramatically increase.
It is not out of the question that I might implement this for the games at the weekend. I dont feel that we would be moving the goalposts to any detrimental degree.

About the Sprint 1 not showing,

The current set up is not efficient. There are 28 individual Leaderboards and 28 templates. In the future there will be 7 LB, each showing all the Sprints for a particular time period, 1,2,3,4, so they will be available 24/7 for the duration.

This convoluted way of doing it gives me the option to edit in running and the more I dwell on it, the more I like the idea of switching the last 2 days to average score.

Rob

Once again I think 3 Max SNGs is a terrible format for a promo like this.
1st place: 9,182 tournament points
2nd place: 6,493 tournament points
3rd place: 5,302 tournament points
There is not enough of a penalty for finishing last to discourage the bingo players. You are solely rewarding volume if you use a total points format. Best 20 is better but if only 3 people make it to 20 so you really didn’t accomplish much.

So if I play 20 tournaments and go all in the first hand and finish last in each one, I stlll get 106,040 points which is an average 5-8th place on the leaderboard.

One1 One’s top 20 averaged less than a 2nd place finish so their total games played is significantly lower. If you play 20 games entry fee would be 400,000. I don’t know how many games One1One played but a 350,000 chip prize does not make that even close to a profitable strategy.

On the other hand PlayforfunV’s Average finishing position of about 1.25 so playing it the right way would be profitable strategy (winning 16 games + 300,000 leader board prize) for that same 400,000 entry fee.

So either only score wins (like the run good race) or make it best 10 scores or extend the time period to 8 hours and go top 20 scores.

I would suggest just counting wins,
