Some of us use PC’s to enjoy the great games here on Replay and performing our daily online activities. I believe we should have a thread to discuss pc issues, current & upcoming), new technology, preferences and any other PC related challenges.
I think this will help all of our fellow players when issues occur on their PC. Below are a few examples:)
Upcoming PC issue - The end of Microsoft support for Windows 10 on Oct.14,2025
New Technology – Now with new micro size Solid State Hardware, we can get a powerful and fast PC that fits in your hand. Look up Mini Windows PC’s for more info.
New Technology – 2” x 10” inkless printers. Mine is a Peripage. It does require a USC to a USB cable to connect to a PC, but is wireless to your phone.
Personal choices – We all have our personal choice as to what browser to use, I prefer the Brave browser, due to the add/tracker & third party blocking.
I would love to hear more ideas, comments, preferences and PC news from everyone to assist us all with our daily computer activities.
I’m using Brave too, but does anyone else feel like it’s a bit of a scam?
Sure you CAN turn off the tracking stuff, unlike in the latest Chrome versions, but you still have to go into the settings on turn off a bunch of stuff or you’re going to get bombarded with their own crypto adds and the like. There’s way more switched on by default than their marketing would lead you to believe, but at least the ad blockers still work on it I guess.
Thanks for your input, lihue. I assume your referring to ads on the Brave home screen. Yes, I can see how you and probably a lot more don’t want to see it. Personally, I hardly ever look at their ads & just go straight to my Replay shortcut. I guess all free online companies will continue with ads except replay lol, (I hope).
I have checked after playing a game on different browsers and found the cookies to be just a few kb from Brave and hundreds of mb with others also. Another Con with Brave is their search engine. It is useless to me and filled with paying company’s to be at the top of search list.
I am curious to know what browser would be your second choice with pro’s & con’s?
Brave does let you use whatever search engine you want. You do have to set it independently multiple places, eg for the search box on the home page and the title bar, but those are both in the settings, and there’s a bunch of options.
It wasn’t just the home page adds that annoyed me, along with the search engine, they push Brave everything, and like the search engine it’s just pushing ads and crypto all the time.
I guess if your more concerned with privacy than ads, you might not care as much, but then there’s probably better choices.
Once you get it setup how you like it’s pretty good, but out of the box it seems worse in many ways.
I liked Chrome until they broke it. I think if you’re using a phone for anything you’re likely already leaking more info to Google/Amazon/Apple than you will be through your PC browser, so the lack of privacy wasn’t a big deal, and it just always worked for me (mostly). Brave randomly decides that some devices on my local network are unreachable for no reason, so I still have to use Chrome sometimes.
I haven’t used Opera or Firefox in a long time. They were both good, but because they’re not as widely used you’re more likely to run into issues. Almost all browsers these days are Chromium based, so they’re all using the same engine and there shouldn’t be websites that work on some browsers and not other, but unfortunately that’s not the case.
I don’t think I have a device that doesn’t have multiple browsers installed on it, because there isn’t a single one that I can live with in every situation.
