Thanks for posting that. I’m not surprised that most are not profiting despite being good players, that play very well. That could be, probably is variance. But I also suspect some of it is that with pay outs being about 275k over 5 to 10 spots, instead of 500k or 750k over 5 to 10 spots, plays a role.
If someone plays to win, and has a very good, say 23% cash, ITM rate, and about a 7 to 10 to 13% win tourny rate(also very good), then when that happens, they are only getting about 25k to 85k about 7% to 23% of time, which isnt enough to offset losing 20k buy ins 77% of time.
That means players will have to try to squeeze, pop into cashing instead of playing to win, even if they are the best. And even if they play to cash, that might not be enough. The good players who are profiting are profiting because of their skill, but luck, variance, plays just as big a part, maybe even a bigger part.
That means players will have to either play to cash, or have bigger pay outs, so that when do cash, or win, about 23% of time, it will be enough to profit, instead of being in the losing column.
i’m going to either have to adjust my play to cash more often, or have pay outs increased, or resign myself to being in losing column unless I get lucky and variance smiles on me.
I have 2.4 mil, about 100 buy ins, so semi properly rolled, but Im going to have to either cash in league play often, or have to finance league play with non league play tournaments, and only play league play if I am bankroll healthy, etc.
I wish the Nordic tournaments paid out more because of this.
But I am ok with it the way it is, and am ok if I end up in loss column, instead of profit column, as long as I dont bust my bankroll, go broke playing league tournaments, as I really like playing such good, tough competition.
