Mystery Bounties

I’ve been enjoying the games here for a while now, but I wanted to suggest something that could really spice things up and add an extra layer of excitement to the site — Mystery Bounties!

Sites like PokerStars have introduced these in some tournaments, and they’ve been a massive hit. The concept is simple but super fun: when you knock a player out, you win a mystery prize — it could be small, or it could be a big jackpot-style reward. It adds suspense to every hand and gives players another reason to stay engaged, even if they’re not running hot in the tournament overall.

For a free poker site, the aim should be to maximise the fun and keep things fresh — and honestly, things can feel a little stale at times with the current tournament formats. Mystery bounties could be a great way to shake that up and bring a sense of novelty and anticipation back to the tables.

It would also be a nice way to get more casual players excited and maybe even encourage a bit more forum and community engagement around who hit the biggest mystery reward that week!

Just a thought — would love to hear what others think and if this is something Replay could explore!

I like the idea, but it does reward the players who gamble more. I’d be way more likely to play a mystery bounty tournament than any other format, so I’d be all for it, but wouldn’t be looking forward to all the complaints in the forums every time 2 random cards wins one of the big bounties (even though it might have been correct to play any 2 cards).
It would still get my vote, just pointing out that it’s not all upside.

If my memory serves me correctly, I think we used to have a “secret santa” who played in the Bust the Staff competition. Perhaps this could be used in some way?

I see your point, but I don’t mind that. Your range has to widen on PKOs anyway, when there’s a decent bounty to be taken into account. The only thing that really changes with a mystery PKO is some bounties are min bounties and there’s a couple of mega bounties in the mix.
