I’ve heard some complaints in the past about players with high bankrolls buying into low-limit ring games and “ruining the game.” However, IMO much more undesirable is the guy sitting at a 20M max buy-in table with 3M chips, hogging a seat while the rest of us wait in line.
Hey dude! If you only want to sit 3M there are tables for that! Get outta my chair, I want to buy-in!
Even the 20M Max tables?
That’s the 50K/100K tables which is the 4th highest stakes level
.
And like I said maybe the guy with 3M remaining actually started with 20M. I don’t like it when people start telling people which tables they should be playing on.
Yeah, I think it’s pretty rude to take up a seat with a super short buy. It’s annoying in live cash games, too. There was this really nice doctor who used to play in my local 1/3 game; he’d sit with the minimum ($60) and only rebuy for that amount when he busted. Played for hours sometimes, while I watched the drunk guy blowing $500 at a time sit down at someone else’s table.
Well, the buy-in for a 50K/100K is 5M - 20M, so if the player had 3M when you showed up, it means he was at least down 2M but probably was down 17M.
What’s rude about still sitting at the table and trying to win back his chips?
If you’re that impatient to wait for an opening at that table just start another table. Players who want to play do it all the time and I’m certain you’ve done it. If not, I showed you how to find a new table.
Now, it sounds like you can tell people how much everyone should buy-in at a table. People have different motives and objectives for playing which obviously differs from yours, they are not being rude. They’re probably just having fun.
But second, if you are playing at a 20M max buy-in table and you are down 17M, you should rebuy for 20M. Imagine you finally get pocket aces and now you can only win 3M from the other players.
The only reason to play out 3M is because you can’t afford 20M, in which case you are over your head and shouldn’t be playing those stakes at all. Of course, it’s your chips and you’re free to do with them as you please! But I am also free to observe that you are putting yourself in a bad situation while holding up the table for others who can actually afford those stakes.
All I really wanted to point out with this post is that while many on Replay complain about players with too MANY chips in ring games, it’s actually much more logical/reasonable to be annoyed about players with too FEW chips.
Obviously, I still don’t agree with you, and it still appears you just aren’t considering what I posted in response.
You may not realize it, I usually like your posts e.g., your bragging of reaching 1 billion chips in one year by winning at least 100 million per month was impressive since that is what you did within one year. And some of your hand analyses were spot on and not because I had also made the same observations. You were just able to correctly describe the hands better than I would have written it.
But,
When you start criticizing how and where players should play, I just have to insert myself in the discussions because it just rubs me the wrong way. Consider the other comments made and I hope you see why.
