Limping small pairs in tourenys

Agree, and I consider that play a semi-bluff and a terrible time to make it.

I wouldn’t make that mistake of limping low pairs with a low stack. I would prefer to put them all in the pot and if I have a good stack before limping I would observe the players who will talk after me because I would be in trouble if there is a strong raise or an all in that would lead me to lose my chips

There are times we make that decision based on position and ask, what is risk verses possible reward.

Hi, TeUnit.

Agree with most parts of your post.

I can think of two exceptions:

  1. You can overlimp if you are in late position and a lot of players have limped before you. In extreme cases (like over 5 limpers) you almost get direct odds to set mine even if almost no money goes in after that.

  2. You are in small blind. Maybe you don’t count completion in the small blind as a true limp but you get even better odds (especially if the BB is passive).

You can also just open-complete or open-limp in SB if it’s folded to you and the stacks are too deep to just open-shove.

Overlimping is way different than open limping. If the blinds are low they are often giving you great odds to overlimp, but if the stacks are shallow the icm tax is usually to high to speculate with a low pair.

If you are in the small blind you are completing to me, not limping. Again you are getting a great price to complete.

So, if I got a small pair like 33, it’s better to open limp or over limp only if the stacks are like 30 BBs or more, right?
Limping with less hurts the future tourney chances, got it!
But why give up fold equity, initiative, and position? Unless, of course, I’ve got Aces with less than 10 big blinds. Then limping and calling off is the play.
But then wouldn’t be better to go all in, since you have only 10BBs?
Omg im complicating this way too much

i like to play that way
when i`m with a low stack, 10BB for example
i think its a bold play but i like it

If you have AA and 10bbs you really want to maximize how much you win. If you shove and everyone folds then you didnt maximize how much you win.

Agree @TeUnit With a low stack, need to build the pot, to improve our stack. However we should remember it is Poker & we can loose as I have limping in with AA , and another A at the turn only to loose to a low straight.

You can still lose with AA, but the juice is worth the squeeze. The band Ratt would say “Its dangerous, but worth the risk.”

Indeed worth the squeeze and in that situation there is no choice but to go fer it lol

very often when I get a pair in my hand, two or three players at the table also have pairs in their hands😅

If you have a pair in your hand it makes it slightly more likely for others to have a pair.
