What’s the story with all the pictures and videos ?

Isn’t there a thread for music videos already ?

Can someone let Rail Bird know there is a thread for them. Every thread I read he’s posting songs.

Thank you

Sassy, while I haven’t seen the scenario where they use each others names, a lot (myself included) use nh, gh etc… as a way of saying no hard feelings for taking my chips. Regardless of whether or not it really was a nice hand.

Not only should it be understood this wasn’t supposed to be a rehash of the Nh/Gh thread, but “impolite”, well sure… other words too…

As Warlock said, yes social more than serious, but then usually you’d find them talking more… still on most tables, I am the chatty-cathy… so 1 for the other side barely…
Ummm Lefty, so you’re saying gh, wp, gbt, ect ect is less to type than bob, ted, ann, ect ect ??? I don’t buy that… then just 1 letter so, b, t, a ect ect… thats even worse…
Also, I get it in a live setting where outta 25-30 ppl 20-ish are regulars and will have a certain familiarity with each other, but in that case you have visual clues that speak volumes rather than a few characters…
Here at Replay when you have 1 table running at certain stake level, then beggers can’t be choosers… but that will work for both sides of this coin… good or bad…

– If you just got to this thread, please @ the beginning vote now –

I don’t agree with “participation trophies” for kids, losers don’t get trophies… I was taught manners, so trust me they are a good thing… I was trying “nicely” to hear a some ppl from the other side, influence my opinions … or atleast disuade me.

Same here Sarah … I am guilty though of saying nh way more often than I need to . I started saying it to only friends on the table and then thought that I should say it to all , to be friendly , but if I notice that the non friends never say nh to anyone when even beat by a great hand , then I no longer say it to them . Either they are not interested in table talk , have chat turned off or just have no manners.Since my game of choice is the SitnGos , I play with a lot of the same people so this does make it easier to be friendly and meet new players. I do understand though that in your situation playing with a bunch who all seemed to be friendly to each other would also make me uncomfortable with the just using the players name instead of saying nh… ect and also the fact that there was not much table chat between such “friends”. My game is more social than serious which is why I am also the chatty-cathy.

Ummmmmm Sarah, ( was that sass really necessary??? )
please re read, I never said anything like that.

I said… I didn’t start the practice, I said… there is no mischief, no collusion, no nothing, but friendly folk playing online poker.

Oh, and I’ve changed my thinking, please don’t come join our fun tables, we don’t need unfriendly sarcastic people there.

@Lefty20 ,
I got the order incorrect… bob, ted, ann - nh, gh, wp - t b a … ( less type )
Also, I meant no disrespect to you… My last post was a summation of the thread so far, tried to list points on both sides… and let ppl know there was a poll @ top…

I’m sorry when I got the order wrong Lefty, other than that… that post was fine.

Hahahaha

I suppose we should report it when it happens, so that if there is a pattern it emerges for the hosts to address. I actually looked to see if there was a button for “Report possible cheating” (or something like that) but couldn’t figure it out in 2-3 mintues so gave up and moved on…

Yeah but rude is better and funnier

Hi Gina. If you notice, see or hear something that is not appropriate just click on the players name and then click on the exclamation point to report player and type your text.

Craig,
So its perfectly alright for her to cast aspersions to a wide audience and the management of this site, that my friends and I are in some kind of collusion? Potentially endangering our ability to continue playing here?
And all because she doesn’t like the way we CONGRATULATE EACH OTHER??! That’s outrageous.

And It’s ok that she makes these outrageous irresponsible accusations and does so without a single shred of proof whatsoever, and I wasn’t supposed to let that upset me?

And now, you say that I’m the one that wasn’t being nice? Give me a break sir

Lighten up Lefty it was a joke because of The Sassy_Sarah username.

The only thing I took exception too was you telling Sarah she is not welcomed at your table.

That Sir is a violation of the terms of service.

Have a Happy Day my friend and don’t sweat the small stuff, life is to short for anger.

Coffee ? :coffee:

I remember playing Bridge, where a profile is needed so players know how you bid. I type in my profile that I turn the chat box off and play serious, but I actually leave it on. I read the typed messages “why isn’t he responding or conversing?” one of the ops says “his profile says he turns it off” and so fourth. Lots of drama, perhaps, in the players. That game can have nice hand or nice play remarks after the hand too.

Poker hands move much quicker so typing Gh (I prefer great to good when complimenting a hand) happens more oft. If I tried typing it every hand (weak typist) I would miss my window to check with pocket aces and have to click the I’m back button. I’ve tried to say something special when someone has that special hand or moment. Wowse is my current fav.

To me it feels good that players compliment me in my moment. It says good sportsmanship to me. Nothing about rude from frequency or civil from courtesey, just sportsmanship. At the real table, in pub poker, players can curse you off then say just kidding nice hand then call you a name in one swoop. I think only about sportsmanship here. I have had players not compliment me but I have never felt a lack of sportsmanship or even courtesey here. someone says NH and I don’t even track who. If it is more than one (the second invariably has to say VNH to avoid either copycatting or losing that all important typing race) than I just feel doubly special and reply THX.

I like to say Nice Bet (not NB) on occasion too. I might add when action is closed, Folded Aces Over when a monster bet might have supported a flush or something. Others at my table start doing that once I do. I think That should be done more often making a social experience here.

One last thought. I have Never had any sense of call people by names, collusion, muting, or anything like that. I never knew the situation existed. Craig A says just move to a different game. It probably wasn’t aimed at you, and it should be forgotten. But if you are unhappy, then move and try to have fun elsewhere. Or you can get them back and earn their silent respect (my style) but definitely do what makes you happy.

Nice post :+1:t2: Life is too short to be angry. Like I said before if your not happy at a table move on.

I thought that was why we are all here, to play the game we love, being part of a community and developing friendships along the way.

I’m new to all this first initial thing during a game so I just go with the flow. I don’t do it personally but I have seen it more and more at tables but I give credit where credit is due when a nice hand is won/well played.

Krav,

With the current timers its easy-peasy to make poinient comments and still keep up with betting. If necessasy wait to say GH till after you acted, instead of before… if its that much of a problem. the whole point to using abriviations even for good hand, GH, are to make it easy enough to “keep up”… I think tho you miss’d my point.

There was another thread, all about the “use” and the “overuse/misuse” of everything … gh, nh, wp, gb, gbt, gf, vnh, ect ect ect… I was drawing the destinction between “saying ppls names” and “saying gh, ect ect”… I then went on to explain how that behaviour can also be interpreted as something else…

I wrote this post Krav, soon after I was being polite and all I said was… If you’re talking to me say what you mean rather than making me wonder by saying my name ( which tells me absolutely nothing and feels creepy )… And some guy jumped all over me, saying how dare I tell anyone anything… That so called polite table, wasn’t so polite now was it ?? Next since I have played more online poker than it seems you have, I did offer other reasons why a certain behaviour can be taken certain ways, and I have seen this before… Did I outright accuse you personally, no I did not… or anyone specifically, no I did not…

You seem to think things that are just untrue of me, just as you seem to try and do the same thing to me by saying what I have seen never happened, or will never happen… Yet again, your advise is to move to another table… Thats pretty hard if there is only 1 table going @ say 5k-10k blinds, and its like pulling teeth to get another 1 going let alone fill it up. There isn’t another table to go to. You also see no problem saying it every hand, which many ppl feel that in that case its meaningless… especially when hands that aren’t a GH or NH, get lumped in…

If I win a hand and you say “ss”, I respond … “yes?”…you say “gh sassy”, I say “ty, then just say that in the 1st place, iono what ss means”… that person obviously has time to type “gh sassy” … much more than “gh or ss”… and both are same speed “gh or ss” so your argument that its faster, goes right out the window… It is impolite in some aspects for me to have to pry my own compliment, as you put it, from you… even if I never included anything else in the post… I use gbt or gbf , not gb, because gb is ambigious ( sure a few times I let it slide to be sassy, and use gb ). its hard to get vnh from me unless it was quads or better, usually anything else qualifies for wp, not vnh… I’m very polite, but I’m also Sassy… don’t confuse the two.

You mention it “feels good to get a compliment”, then you also know how “how it feels to be creep’d out by other ppl too”. If (a person) says something to another, and they take it 1 way, and the person saying it meant it another way, thats a problem for both people… not just 1 of them… Take the players in the Regional MTTs, they play every day twice, against the same core ppl + straglers… they don’t usually do this… when you see others, that are familliar, sure you say “hi” @ the table, but then you still use gh, nh, ect ect… not thier names, plus its not as often to see it every frick’n hand… so it is possible to be both polite and non-creepy…

I need to read this again before formulating a more accurate response. I now can say I know a few players that know each other by name. at a table of 9 if one says hi to one or two others, I myself think nothing of it. A bunch of coworkers that found replay together or regulars that treat each other different from the newbies like me. I’ll think about your post some more.
