I know what "nh" means but

nh is nice. it’s just a courtesy. But @g_rockman it DOES NOT mean you played the hand well. wp, or well played means you played the hand well.

Why it is used so much is simple, people like to be civil and friendly.

It is more a a bully for you for winning.

Now, people can say it for other reasons,

for example, me,

If I flop a set and bet the pot on the river and go all in on the turn trying to stop a draw and some (@$#$@) rivers a gut-shoot straight draw to win the pot. I may say NH, WP. to thank them for letting me know how they play and were I will get my next double up, and to encouraged them to continue to play like an idiot.

Hugoism #5 Poker is not a game for the weak of heart, or for that matter, anybody with one.

So, If I say nh after you played the hand as it should have been played, it means, bully for you.

If you played it better than I would have or others would have, and I say wp, it’s means, respect, well played, I’m impressed with your play.

Have I ever deserved a NH, WP. (@#$!!!)? OF COURSE .

Hugoism #1 Everyone is somebody’s fish.

Hugoism #6 When we leave this world, let us hope we have well played our lives.

I use good one, G1, for an exceptionally nice pot , position play where all opposition folds and The winner mucks

Nice bet - nbt
Nice bluff - nbf

Micki Fin, How are you? Nice catch is a good response if it’s a great hand and a big haul of chips.
I dislike when someone wins with a pair whatever the pair is and someone who did not play in the hand says NH or GH it’s a pair. Let us be honest it may have won the pot but it is NOT what I would call a “Good Hand.”

I don’t remember you either Caracal, If I said anything to hurt your feelings, I’m very sorry.
But yes…had to been a very long time ago.
Yes like Sharon said, nicer is the way to go, I’m all for nice.
plus I just got back from being away for 5 months.
sometimes you have to just let things go, especially when it was a year ago.
