Explain this

Last time I posted, 8 odd months ago, I bought a small bundle of chips to support this site…over the next 4 months, lost 20 million, day after day losing. If I bet on 3 J’s another player had 3 Queens, If I bet on say 34567 straight, someone had 56789. If I folded a 23… the table turns up A45 OR 456. I stopped playing as the enjoyment had gone out of it. recently, I have noticed people winning, with cards they didn’t have, ie they had a small pair, nothing on the table…they win with 9-Q straight!!! I have won a hand where I had an A high card yet I won with an A high straight, my cards were rubbish. I have also noticed that if I have an A9 and the table contains a pairing A, and I check, the last player also checks, they have AJ, they win the pot, yet several months ago consistently, the pot would be split…why. Today Im playing my hand 6 8, turn, 8 8 10, the flop, 10 the river 10 full 10’s over 8’s, the looker had 7 3, the pot was slpit…wtf is going on here…I used to love coming here 7 days a week and filling in a few hours chatting and playing, now, the site is really annoying me the way the algorithms are playing out… The game above is this number, I dont know how to put it up.

Hand #1164975765

The pot was split, because your 8 didn’t matter anymore. There was a FH on the table, like you said yourself.
10s over 8s. So as long as neither of you has a higher pocket pair than 8s or the fourth 10, it will always be a split pot.

Thanks, although that doesn’t seem right lol.

If the standard rules were different, you’d win with trips x2 vs trips and a pair.

Rules are rules!

I can see why that split pot doesn’t seem right.

Every poker player will go through a no-win scenario at some point.

The duration always seems intolerable.

Happens to the best of 'em.

Evidence is everywhere!

Especially at the 8:30 mark in this video

Even though Lindgren won the hand, it’s interesting to note that Lindgren filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2015.

Negreanu overcame his inevitable no-win scenario.

Negreanu is still active and recently weathered a 2 Million yearly loss.

Personally, I’d rather be on Replay!

The positives are obviously the strong, enduring friendships.

I’d suggest joining the WILDHORSES league.

Focus on the money you’re saving being there.

If you need any proof, just take a ride to your local casino and stroll the aisles.

Use your poker reading skills and notice how many happy gamblers with happy faces are out

there.

All I see is stoic sadness and ruin!

Sure, they might let you win in the beginning, but then they take all your money.

I see you have 19 Million in your RP bank.

You had plenty of good fortune to keep you afloat during those no-win moments.

Don’t risk too much and play conservatively.

It’s tempting to bet more when you have a bigger RP bank.

Join a league, it’s usually only 20k a game!

You could bring back the fun that way.

Post more on the Community Forums to help keep up the interest.

Basically, focus on the positives when things get a little crazy with the no-win scenarios!

I appreciate you posting that hand you had with the 8.

You must’ve read my algorithm posts.

Keep an eye on those trends.

The trend is your friend!

Playing in real money tournaments both online and offline at casinos isnt bad, as long as you are sufficiently rolled, are a good player, trying to improve, by study, etc.

I won’t play cash games, because players can lose their shirt, money, etc, easier in cash games, then in tournaments.

With tournaments, you only play 1,2 every day or every other day or once a week, as tournament frequency isnt as often as cash games, and tournaments take longer, etc, so your losses can be, usually are semi limited, more semi limited the cash games.

Contrast that with how I played $80 for 4 to 6 to 8 hours, somewhere between break even and slightly profitable after wild swings. A guy dropped $350 at table, lost it to all of us, then put $350 more on table, losing it all to us. Bad Player guy did that 7 to 9 times. After that I decided not to play cash game tables, so that I wouldnt lose an or so that I wouldn’t take so much money from bad player gambling addicts.

Started playing free play chip, freeroll sites online because casino tournament frequency went down, and because of USA Black Friday Shut Down of Real Money online Poker in 2011, and because real money online poker is a Class C Felony in WA state.

I understand your frustration! It sounds like you weren’t aware of the rules about how to determine the winning hand when the board makes a stronger hand than either player’s holding.

Hopefully this is now understood, and you can keep enjoying Replay with a clear conscience
