Another excellent league game! 73 total in attendance and very hard fought battle!

The skinny, “stewless” Pirates returned to fighting form. A fleet of 20 Pirate ships sailed into the game with a very aggressive style. Initially, the Pirates lost a few shipmates right off the bat, but rallied to put 4 in the points and 3 of those (colo, denali and mafus) at the final table with CB taking the championship! An excellent effort which gave them 1st place for the game and pulled them into 2nd place in the league standings!

Although 5 fewer longboats set sail for the Rens, they continued their “feast mode” strategy. A whopping 7 players in the points, with 2 of those (wwc and mika) at the final table! An excellent effort to edge the Outlaws for 2nd place! Well done!

With a month high 16 riders, it was again clear the Outlaws were taking nothing for granted, and they would ride their horses (short or tall) through the tape. With 4 players in the points, and 3 of those (mw, mimi and 12) at the final table, the Outlaws managed a solid 3rd place and nearly caught the Rens for 2nd. Well done!

The Cons entered with a game high 21 riding the “magic bus”. Some struggles mid-game left them with a much smaller "con"tingent, but they pulled themselves together to put 3 in points and 1 (cg) at the final table! A very good effort amid tough circumstances!

Last game of the season tomorrow night! Much can still be decided in the League rankings. with most notably 2nd/3rd still up for grabs! Let’s finish strong!! See you tomorrow!

The quest for a Baker’s Dozen of titles ends tonight. It has been a great month with great turnouts and skillful players. The winners will have earned their crown by the end of the night. Sad to see February end but March is green with envy waiting in the wings. Good luck have fun and god bless.

An excellent game to end the month of February! A total of 69 players attended, and a very good overall game!

The Pirates continued their aggressive push, trying to overtake the Outlaws in this last game. A very impressive performance with 9 in the points, and 5 (carp, oo, tinner, rockit and joyce) at the final table. A whopping 96 player points gave them 1st for the night and secured their 2nd place finish for the month! Well done!

Although the Cons may have been frustrated over the course of the month, it did not show in their play tonight. Four in the points and 2 at the final table (Mahv and rg), with Mahv taking the championship! This is Mahv’s second time as champ in the last 4 games! Well done.

The Outlaws rode in with a larger gang than typical, making certain they would secure the championship for the month. 17 riders rode hard throughout the contest, resulting in 2 players in the points (Kermit and Ed) and both reaching the final table. Third place for the night, but 1st place for the month! Well done!

The Rens brought 20 longboats to the game, and a made a fine effort throughout the night. However, they managed only 3 in the points and none at the final table, which dropped them to 3rd in the overall standings for the month. Still a very good game and a fine month!

Congratulations to the Outlaws for winning the championship this month! This also brings to a close the Pirates awesome winning streak of 12 consecutive months, a feat which may never again be duplicated. And a big shout out to all the players, old and new, who contributed to a great month!

Now we look ahead to next month. Will the Cons post double guards on their rabbit hutch and push themselves up the standings ladder? Will the experience the Renegades have gained result in a championship of their own? Will the Pirates, suffering from “Champus Interruptus” , rebound and play the way they did tonight? Will the Outlaws continue this level of play, or are they a one-trick pony? This will all be revealed over the next month of exciting play in the DW League! Good Luck All !!

(I will be “on hiatus” from post game write-ups for the next week or two, and then somewhat “off and on” from then on. I’m remodeling my house and this is taking a good deal of time. If anyone wants to take over, feel free  )

The US hockey team beat the Soviets. Buster Douglas beat Tyson.
Pigs fly. Hell freezes over. And the Pirates lose a month!

As a remarkable win streak comes to a close, I congratulate the mighty band of OUTLAWS on their triumph. Perhaps there IS a new sheriff in town! Most of the team has been intact for a long time, and their hard work and good team play paid off with a handsome victory. I’m not 100% sure (though if I am wrong I know who will correct me) but I think even under previous scoring systems, they would have won the month. To me, that is WOOT-WORTHY!

And how about those Renegades? For many months they struggled to get players, but now they show up with 20 people a game and are a threat every night. Kudos to the team and to WW PokerAce, who left the Pirates (who promptly failed to win this month, hmmm) to help RE-energize and RE-cruit the REns. His play and his passion are as awesome as his RE-caps. And now he’s RE-modeling his house?

Lastly congratulations to Sharon on her league. DW has the kind of attendance that newer leagues can only dream of. 70 people a game? And more? Pretty amazing.

CONGRATS Outlaws. Shout out to the team for coming together, gaining confidence every game and playing like a TEAM. We did it with 12 to 15 players which shows just how good Outlaws played this entire month. We don’t need to be told how to play to win, right Michael? Hopefully your ego will be in check for at least a game…lol!! Also HUGE shout out to Rens…awesome month with getting so many to play…greaT JOB!! And lastly, kudos to Sharon for having a league that gets 65 plus playing.every game…I’m sure some leagues are very jealous…awesome Organizer!! Oh, how foolish of me, Poker Ace…your write ups can never be equaled…awesome!!!

Saratoga and 12, thank you for the kind words! The Outlaws had a fantastic month, and continued to play very well all the way down the stretch! Congratulations to you and your team!

The kudos for recruitment of new players to the Rens belongs to Neb and Whit. When Whit was out for a while, Neb did a fantastic job of stepping up, recruiting players and posting many messages of encouragement. With Whit back, she has also continued to do the same. So, many, many thanks to Neb and Whit for re-building this team and getting the big attendance numbers needed to compete!!

Congratulations to the outlaws! @Julie63 kudos for your efforts! It was a fun month!
I see all the usual suspects are gloating in excess, I don’t remember the Con’s gloating so much when they beat us 13 months ago, but I think it’s great for the league! let the smack talking begin!!

You have got to be kidding. You are going off because someone is maybe gloating about winning. At least that is after the award is officially recognised. You gloated for at least 5 months before the title was awarded. But I guess that was okay because it was you. Unbelievable.

Congratulations to the Outlaws, well deserved win for February! Great competition last month ALL! But with the new month comes new strategies. Sharpen your sabers and cutlasses and make certain your powder is dry, for I expect the upcoming rivalries will only intensify. Be forewarned, we have recently outfitted our ships with new riggings, larger cannons, freshly waxed planks, which will be complemented with the reinstatement of the tradition of keelhauling should inappropriate actions or behavior warrant it! And as an incentive for all fellow Pirates, an extra ration of Grog will rewarded for anyone who dispatches an opponent. And of course we always reserve the right to invoke the punishment of 20 Lashes whenever we see fit! AGHRRRRRR!
