You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.
Before i retired in 2007 i was in the trucking business. i hauled entertaining equipment for off braodway shows, country western bands, rock and roll stars. One of my customers was a tour for camel cigarettes. We did gigs all over the country for 3 years. If you remember, the cigarette pack had a camel on the front who’s name was Joe Cool. That camel also was featured on tv commercials. I also had it pin stripped on my truck and that’s how Smokin’ Joe Col came about. back in the 70’s it started as Joe Cool as a CB handle and i’ve used it in some form ever since.
I felt I needed a user name so I navigated to profile select to change user name .

My older brother nicknamed me that when we were young and it has stuck for sixty years. He’s an organizer and has turned my screened room at our camp site into a poker room where texas holdem is played weekly and is commonly referred to as Ezard’s Poker Room. My brother has ensured that anyone that sits at this table on a regular basis has a nick name and is commonly referred to as such. Like Zeke1961 and Countyboy.
i got my name from the song candy licker by Marvin Sease
Winston Smith is a character from a book… Once in a while someone who is familiar with the book will start a conversation - that is a partial reason for the name choice - ‘ice breaker’, maybe…
I like to think that Winston ‘fought the law and the law won’, and while I have never fought the law, lol, in his shoes I probably would have …
In my career I actually worked For the law, lol… I grew up with Superman comic books so the idea of “Truth, Justice and The American Way” is a natural for me…
I like the irony of it…
Although, not “American” Winston, were he a real person, I believe would have bought into that…
Ok here i go…my name was almost inspirational…an all of a sudden idea…im from tennessee and the song “the tin man can cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good”…something like that.and walla… that became my name course im " Im the Man from Tennessee"…aint that a song or something.

Hallo every 1,
my user name is Tallies distracted from my surname Taljaard, when you get older you get the name Tallies because the oldest brother is called Tally, which means that im not the oldest, i am a mere 71 and 9 months.
only when my elder brother dies, that i hope not, i can call myself Tally instead of Tallies
Its in the family and i am still enjoying this site 100 percent.

I have spent 30 years in the United Coast Guard! Retired on Aug 1993.
Originally graduated Boot Camp as Seaman Recruit E-1, and was promoted to E-2 Seaman apprentice and E-3 Seaman. Stationed At a LifeBoat Station on the south shore of Boston Harbor. Later I was selected for a program for lower enlisted to be selected for a program to enter flight school in Pensacola, Florida. I completed the training program at Naval Flight Training Command and received a Commission as an Ensign. I was assigned to a Coast Guard Air Station in Houston Texas. IN less than 2 years of training I was promoted to First Pilot followed by Aircraft Commander. Still an Ensign I then volunteered for a program as 1 of 3 Coast Guard aviators to be transferred to the USAF Rescue Squadron in Da Nang Viet Nam. Following my return from SE Asia, I spent 26 years in the service achieving the rank of Captain… thus the name I chose CapnRob.
