British flags

I would like to be able to play with my countries flag

At the moment all British folk play under the Union Jack Flag, but we are four separate countries, just a thought.

Disagree. The UK is 4 separate states just the same as the USA is 50 separate states, Canada is 13 separate provinces/territories, Aus is 8 separate territories, how many Russian oblasts, Japanese prefectures, etc, etc, etc.

You are displaying your ignorance!!! Great Britain consists of 4 countries - they are not “states”. Australia is made up of 5 states and 2 territories. Try to get yourb facts straight before you pontificate like that.

That’s actually not technically correct either. The UK is 4 - it’s the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland - GB is just England, Scotland and Wales.
Although they only really compete as GB in the Olympics I think, and Northern Ireland is part of team GB, so I guess you can argue it either way. My experience is that most people who live in the UK don’t know or care except when it comes to football, and then they’re definitely all different countries.

I politely suggest we are quite aware of the differences between our countries in these little islands, not just in sporting matters.
I would like a Scotland flag as this is my country (not state) but not overly fussed, was just a suggestion.

Scotland has been recognized as a country since about the 8th century, there is no country called Britain

Yeah, I was being somewhat facetious, but the English will use English and British interchangeably. ie Andy Murray is British and therefore English despite being Scottish. Also it seemed like no-one outside of Northern Ireland cared about the difference between Great Britain and the UK, but that’s not a discussion you want to be having in Northern Ireland.

Or a Glasgow pub

I did not say Britain. I said UK.

Look up the definition of state.

Yeah, but under that definition, all countries are states. Being a state doesn’t exclude Scotland from also being a country, and most people, especially those who live there, consider it one.

There is no country called the UK, there’s a country called Scotland though, I live in it, it has a flag. It also has vibrant tourist industry, often visitors from the states visiting the country of there origin.

That’s a ridiculous statement.

If you want mince words over kingdoms countries states or republics or what have you that’s just childish. So the kingdoms of Saudi Arabia and Jordan aren’t countries? What about the United Arab Emirates? Like srsly.

Exactly. That’s what I said about the USA being 50 states. Technically, they are a union of smaller countries just like the UK. How many flags should the admin add? Now we have to add flags like Friesen for Dutch folks from Groningen etc. There are people in Quebec (Les souveraintistes) who would prefer to fly the Fleur de los, but no one considers them a separate country from Canada, they get a maple leaf and that’s that. Fair is fair. Or are the British more fair than the rest of the world and get special treatment?

I live in a country called Scotland, you are being silly.
How many flags should the admin add?
Only the ones that are countries rather than states or regions!
Don’t expect it to happen but no big deal either way.

Scotland should be allowed to display their own flag

  • While some VPNs might display a Scottish flag within their application interface to indicate a server location in Scotland, the ability to display the flag outside the application would depend on the specific software or service being used and how it identifies and represents the user’s apparent location.

that would be casino.org

I have a VPN, I can pretty much present as any country I please apart from my own.
You are right though it is not really a replay matter, good answer.

That’s exactly the point I think. Most people do consider Scotland to be it’s own country.
I agree the only real workable solution is to use the UN list of sovereign states (which would not include Scotland, and even then can be contentious, eg Taiwan), but saying Scotland is just a state is like saying Canada won’t have a national identity after it becomes the 51st state
