Hi everyone. We have all worked at one point or another in our lives, either because we had to or just wanted to. The question is what is or was the best job you ever had and why? For me, I started and ended my career working for law firms. I enjoyed helping people and being a paralegal gave me that opportunity everyday, as well as the opportunity to be in court to see the case through from the beginning to end. I know this topic was touched on in 2020, but I thought it might be interesting to see what responses are today. After all, the job you worked and liked then might not be the same job you like best now. I look forward to seeing your responses.
I was a financial executive and retired early. But I always stay busy. Here’s a shot of me at a 7-3:30 job I took for a couple of years during retirement. I loved working there. We were a team and worked very hard. Drinking coffee and attending board meetings was very boring compared to working with these guys. It was physical. I’d come home exhausted and filthy dirty, and took a hot shower thinking, God I love this! I’m gonna make myself some dinner.
Hi PaperBoy73. It is nice when you can get a job that you love. As they say, if you like the work you do, you never work a day in your life. Are you a pilot? I, too, fly Cessna 172s. It is so much fun to be able to visit different states all in one day. Thank you for sharing.
I had a job in the late 90s early 00s which is still the best and most interesting job I ever had. It was in a new night service for the homeless. I worked with some fantastic colleagues and clients, the service was set up to target entrenched long term rough sleepers, I met the mad the bad and the sad and every shift was different. Sometimes hilarious sometimes terrifying but never boring, I still miss it now. You could usually tell on the first shift if new staff would last or not, some loved it like me, others did not return after the first shift, it was a wild place at times, but manageable with a tight nit team. I was quite a shy quiet person when I started, well it certainly cured me of that
Hi Pilot704, my thinking about flying planes was that I could fly from Washington to California to visit my children. It didn’t really work out that way, but I sure loved to be “up above it.” I used to “buzz” my house and my neighbors and visit colleagues on the Islands, who took the ferry to work on the mainland.
I had a natural feel for flying, even from my first lesson. I used to dream about flying.
My dream plane is a Beachcraft King 850 twin. That would be awesome.
Dude, you rock! I loved feeding hungry people and used to work with inmates and homeless folks. I love them all. Good for you!
