It’s incredibly clean drinking, I’m just not sure that’s what I want in a porter. It’s way more watery than creamy, and I’d like a porter to be more in the middle I think. Will have to drink more to be sure…
I like Heineken…and “Pabst Blue Ribbon!!!”, among others. and I like to have a couple of either (usually Heineken) and play a few hands of poker before supper most evenings.
I drink cheap beer mostly… on a budget… and cheap beer is also getting expensive… I do however grow my own weed… and sometimes i can trade it for beer…
I cannot drink beer. Or any low alcohol % beverage / alcohol with sweeteners. Hurts my stomach. But I am able to drink whiskey. Probably best I’ve had was a Old Forrester bourbon. Although I still like cheap blends like Black Velvet. Only thing I can’t stand is watery whiskies.
Heineken is not terrible, although I’d get it in cans if you can. It’s notorious for going skunky in the bottle. So is Corona, although in that case most people seem to think it improves the flavor.
There’s a couple of things I’ve managed to avoid for 20+ years in the states - eating at Arbys and drinking Pabst. I can’t see that changing any time soon
There’s good cheap beer, and some great breweries up in Oregon.
Todays beer is collab between Alvarado Street (CA) and Great Notion (OR). It’s brewed with Nothern Lights Terpenes, but actually smells less like weed than a lot of IPA’s. It’s really distinctive and very good though. Highly recommended (although unfortunately not cheap).
I used to love Bourbon and Canadian whiskies of just about every description. Never could stand Scotch though, and rarely drink spirits anymore, but I’ve never tried Old Forrester, so I might give that a shot.
I have tried every bourbon barrel aged stout I can get my hands on though, so if an ABV of 10-20 is something you can tolerate, I can give you plenty of recommendations.
I once had a friend when I lived in Yachats Oregon … he worked at dead guy beer , in Newport Oregon… a few times a year they sold pallets of 22oz bottles.. of mislabeled beer by the cases… a few of us guys would go inn on a pallet full of beer… but we were never sure of what we were buying… lol… but it was always good…
I was trying to react with both a thumbs up and an open mouth, because 50c a bottle for anything Rogue is an amazing deal, and I got this error: You’ve performed this action too many times. Please wait 53 seconds before trying again.
Seems weirdly specific, and now I’m worried the site has had one too many beers.
you familiar with the scene from the movie Blue Velvet…about Heineken and PBR? maybe check it out on YouTube (“here’s to Ben” name of the clip). I was playing off that scene, mainly. however, an ice cold PBR on the right hot day here in the deep south can hit the note for me. call me low brow, even if the shoe’s a bit tight. I like craft beers okay, but not enough.
… and let’s bear in mind, all the while, “moderation in excess, excess in moderation”
Blatz was a good beer, I gave several friends the Blatz taste test, All picked the Blatz, Miller still makes it under contract for Pabst Brewing Company. but I haven’t tried one in a LONG time.
I never liked Michelob but love Michelob Amber Bock, Worth a try if you like a darker full flavor beer, Lost too much weight drinking light
I have not seen Blue Velvet since before I would really even have been aware of Pabst. Was a pretty big Lynch fan though, so I’ll have to watch it again.
I used to enjoy an ice cold VB on a hot day, and that stuff is pretty much unpalatable outside of those parameters - there’s a time and place for nearly every beer.
@southwestmba Blue Moon used to be one of my favorites before I got more heavily into craft beer. I still rate it pretty high. I haven’t tried the Mango one, might have to give that a shot.
