MY DEAR DONK FAMILY;
As many of you may have noticed, I have been a little distant, a little quiet (for me, anyway), a little disillusioned lately. I think the never-ending pandemic may finally have gotten to me, and I will be the first to admit it has carried over to the tables here.
For that I apologize.
You, like I, come here to play, to enjoy, to socialize. And I endeavor to fix my mental outlook asap. But you can help. Here’s how.
BE COURTEOUS. You don’t have to ramble on like I do at the tables, but if a player comments on how well you played a certain hand, a simple ‘ty’ is a nice thing. If we were all at a real, non- virtual table, we certainly would acknowledge compliments from our opponents, right?
BE REAL. Don’t blame replay when you lose on the river. Most of us seldom THANK replay when the river helps, right? Plus it’s an insult to the opponent who just won the hand. Hands DO consist of seven cards; the river beats us all on occasion. It’s not replay out to get you.
BE AWARE. I realize I talk way way too much during the games. I bet I annoy many of you. When that happens, a simple ‘tom, can I concentrate here’ would shut me up and not hurt my feelings (well, maybe a little but I’d get over it). By extension, no one wants to hear non-stop moaning about bad cards/bad flops. I’m guilty of it. Others too. So if we need to express it, get it out and get it over with.
BE GRATEFUL. This is a great league to be a part of. I’ve been in a bad mood and grumbling about little things for over a week. Guess what? I AM AN IDIOT. 90% of the time the poker is excellent, the company unbeatable, the distraction from the outside world so very welcome and so needed. My friend PokerRick reminds me often that tomorrow is promised to no one.
He’s right. So you have my promise that I will do my best to enjoy you all to the fullest. THIS league, THESE people, are gifts I didn’t have a year ago. I’m grateful to have it now.
