Badonk's Donks Stables Social Chat

Thank you cocomoko, you were the best on the table and the result proved it.

So jealous I was 1 position away from having my name on the tournament badge, but looking forward to the privilege of playing with all the Champs on Monday!

Thank you for your question, Sergente21. We love the enthusiasm that is being demonstrated for the earlier tournament.

It would be unfair to post the points earned in The (Your Name Here) Open with the Donks who got a 4 week head start earning points, so instead, we have already established a separate leaderboard for the Donks who play in the early tournament. If you wish to access it, go to the regular leaderboard page and then click on the tab entitled “TournamentsW3PM”

If any Donk wants to help ensure that the early Wednesday tournament will become permanent and official (so it will be just like the other Wednesday and Sunday tournaments), please send or post the name of a friend who qualifies by having a ranking better than 3000 and ask them to accept our friend request. Then we’ll put our crack recruiting team to work on it.

Congrats to the two winners of the first early game .
@Badonkidonk you are so modest, so I´d like to tell everybody that you have been heavily involved. All this has been a team effort. A lot of brain storming and hours spent and it has been a great process :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Slight correction to the above: The TournamentsW3PM tab is 3pm game’s equivalent of the “Weekly Data” tab. This is where the raw results data may be double checked for accuracy. We paste it in here directly from the Lobby page for the tournament, so there’s a very low likelihood of an error.

There is a leaderboard tab for the 3pm game, it is found on the “LeaderBoard 3PM” tab. The results posted here are accurate, but as Badonk has said, we’re not treating these games as “official” for purposes of advancement, crowns, or Hawl of Fame qualification this quarter.

I’m not the decision maker on this, but I would be surprised if the 3pm game doesn’t become official for Q4.

Posting this on behalf of @chuckcox and backed up by @_snowman who created the avatar @ghomer and myself.@Badonkidonk this is for you
“By now everyone knows that Badonkidonk was the DONK OF THE MONTH for July. He earned that title because of his tireless work for this league. Although it is very late in coming, I am proud to present this medal to him. Thank you B for all you do”

SATELLITE TOURNAMENT WINNERS
Thank you to those who played in our 1st early Wednesday tournaments. On Sunday, those who won Replay chips at the event will receive an invitation by private message to compete as special guests in the Hee Hawl of Fame League Tournament of Champions. This is an exclusive event for the past winners of our quarterly leaderboards, so the play is expected to be quite intense. The special guests receiving the invitations are Galak, cocomoko, Sergente21, Goatsoup and cansmoker. Good luck in the tournament.

NEW LEAGUE PROPOSAL

With the blessing of both flashlight_gt and Badonkidonk we are proposing forming a new League open only to members of The Donks and TPP for the purpose of holding a team competition similar to the one RP just held. It seems like the most fun a lot of us have is playing with and against one another - so we thought another format to do this might be worth trying. We need to form a new League because B’Donk has maxed out the number of “leagues” he can run between silvers, golds and Hall of Fame games. RP has reviewed our concept and will approve it after we officially submit it.

Proposed – and open to your input:

A Captain would form a team of 3 (perhaps with a 4th as sub).

Competitions would last 1 quarter. For fun, each quarter would assign a different team requirement (mixed silver and golds, mixed U.S. and nonU.S., mixed men and women, etc.). e.g. “mixers.”

Unlike the RP format, there is no way we can hold a private tournament with an A, B and C player competing on the same day and time. But, consistent with our goals of finding more ways people in other time zones can play, we prefer to schedule different days and times during the week anyway. For example (using EDT as a base): Game 1 might be Monday at noon, Game 2 Thursday at 5 p.m. and Game 3 Saturday (or Sunday) at 3:00 p.m. (The initial teams signing up can decide.) Captains would assign team members to each day. Teammates can switch days with each other but can only play once a week. If there are subs, they can only play for one team and also only once a week.

Ideally scoring would award every finish with at least one point. So if there are 35 teams, the winner on a given day would get 35 team points for that game (plus a bonus of perhaps 5) and the last-place finisher one. This is assuming we can computerize it somehow or find scorers handy with Excel if it has to be done manually. Otherwise, we might have to start with the League Challenge system that only the players at the final table get points.

There is no quarterly prize pool (RP can’t do that) – so this is for braying rights and fun. However, it is suggested that each game have a decent buy-in (10, 15, 20K?) to make the “pot” worth playing for.

Teams would register with the Administrator (MCcats), pick names and, ideally, design crazy shirts.

Next steps: Feedback! Do you like the idea? Additional suggestions? If you are interested in playing in the first one (sort of a beta run), let MCcats (Administrator) or 12beat22 (Organizer) know. Or say so here. We also need a League name. (The Administrator has already rejected Badonk’s suggestion of “Strange Threeways” and has banned him from making any further name suggestions.) Then we will forward it to RP for final approval.

What do you think?

MCcats, 12beat22 (Priscilla and John)

While I have no interest in team poker (that’s just me, many of you LOVE it) I do admire the name STRANGE THREEWAYS.

GOOD WORK Badonk.
maybe an acceptable name would come from MC’s message above:

BRAYING RIGHTS
or
THREE DONK NIGHT

enjoy all

These listed Donks are only the special guests who will receive invitations to the Hee Hawl of Fame Tournament of Champions as a result of having won chips in the early tournament. Of course, the winners of the regular weekly Sunday (July 26th) and Wednesday (July 29th) tournaments will also receive invitations as usual. The winners of those tournament are pompeyb120, SarahFra, SaratogaTom and ttier1, so they too will receive invitations.

I don’t like the idea. I LOVE THE IDEA!!!
Since Replay wouldn’t accept my better suggestion, how about “Three Donk Nightmare”?
Thanks you for the inspiration, Toga.

Thank you for your initiative, I like the idea of a team league.

I’m not a fan of the proposed scoring system. It is very punishing for early eliminations and at the same time doesn’t reward the final table finishers enough relative to the rest of the field.

I believe the most natural choice would be to stick with the well-tested replay tournament point formula and rank teams by the sum of their tournament points (or the sum of the best 9 finishes for each game day as in this league).

I have learned that many of our Donks are traditional poker players and have formed an opinion about the concept of team poker, because it often allows teammates to be at the same table and pass chips.

It should be made clear that the newly proposed team league will not allow teammates to be in the same tournament, much less at the same table, so there is no passing of chips.

your welcome. My bill is in the mail.

Thanks for that suggestion. I agree that would be ideal. But it would need someone of Pug’s expertise to set it up and do the data entry. (Right now he is maxed out with starting up the new Wednesday game.) So we are trying to find something (initially) that is doable manually.

Following up on Badonk’s comment, Tom - I should have made the team concept clearer. This is actually individual poker. It’s just that you and your two teammates combine your scores to create a single team score. Only one team member plays for the team on a given day.
